Okay, so I’ve been wanting to check out Brooklyn Charm in, well, Brooklyn, for ages. I’m a total craft nerd and love making my own jewelry, so a place packed with beads, charms, and all that good stuff sounded like heaven. Finally, I carved out some time and made the trip.

First off, getting there. I’m not a Brooklyn expert, so I relied heavily on my phone’s map app. I took the subway, which was pretty straightforward. I won’t lie, I did double-check the directions like five times because I’m directionally challenged, But I got there with only minimal confusion!

Diving into the Beads

When I walked in, I was immediately overwhelmed – in a good way! There were just so many beads. It’s organized, but it’s also a lot to take in. They’ve got everything separated by material: glass beads in one section, metal charms in another, stones, wood, you name it.

I started by just wandering around, touching everything (probably not the best idea during these current times, oops!). I gravitated towards the glass beads first. They had these amazing iridescent ones that I knew I had to have. Then I got sidetracked by the tiny little seed beads – so many colors!

Then came the charms. Oh, the charms! They had everything from vintage-looking keys and lockets to super modern geometric shapes. I spent a good chunk of time just digging through those bins, finding little treasures.

My Haul & My Project

After about an hour of browsing(maybe more, I lost time in there), and asking a few dumb questions to the staff who were nice about it, I finally narrowed down my choices and checked out. Here’s what I got:

  • A bunch of those iridescent glass beads – I’m thinking of making a necklace with those.
  • Some tiny seed beads in various shades of blue and green. No concrete plans yet, but they were too pretty to pass up.
  • A few silver charms: a little bird, a star, and a tiny, detailed leaf.
  • Some jewelry wire and clasps – the boring but necessary stuff.

My first project is going to be that necklace with the iridescent beads. I’m thinking of a simple, single-strand design to really let the beads shine. Wish me luck – I’ll report back on how it turns out!

So, overall, My experience at brooklyn charm brooklyn ny is very fun!And I’m satisfied what I got at the store.
