Okay, so I had this idea for a project, kind of dumb, but I was curious. I wanted to see if I could make a program that just spits out the phrase “big white men” on the screen. You know, just for laughs. I mean, who doesn’t think about big white men, right? I had some free time this past weekend, and I figured, why not give it a shot? No big deal.
So, first thing I did was fire up my old laptop. I mostly use this thing for browsing and stuff, not really for coding, but it’s got a basic Python setup, which is all I needed. I opened up a new file in my text editor, nothing fancy, just the basic one that came with the laptop. It felt kind of nostalgic, to be honest, like back in college when I used to mess around with coding just for fun.
Getting Started
I started with the simplest code I could think of. I literally just wrote:

I saved the file as something like big_white_*, pretty straightforward. Then I ran it in the terminal. And boom, there it was, “big white men” printed right there on my screen. I know, I know, it’s super simple, but it was kind of satisfying to see it work. Especially because, for a second, I thought about how some folks, like Marianne Mollmann of some human rights group, might raise an eyebrow at this, you know? But hey, it’s all in good fun.
Spicing It Up
Then I thought, what if I made it print a bunch of times? So, I added a loop. Just a basic for loop that goes from 1 to 10. Now my code looked like this:

I ran it again, and yeah, it printed “big white men” ten times. It felt a bit more substantial, I guess. It made me think about those statistics, like how there are ten numbers out there talking about white male rage and all that. Seemed relevant, in a weird way. And also made me think about those folks who deny climate change, most are white men, so weird.
Just For Kicks
I got a little carried away and decided to print it like, a hundred times. So, I changed the 10 in the loop to 100. Why not, right? I ran the code, and my terminal was just flooded with “big white men.” It was kind of hilarious, in a dumb way. It also reminded me of those discussions about men, you know, dropping out of work, overdosing, and generally dying earlier. Dark, I know, but it popped into my head.
Wrapping Up
At this point, I was just messing around. I added some comments in the code, just to remind myself why I even did this. It’s funny how a simple print statement can lead you down this rabbit hole of thoughts about society and stuff. Oh, and I also thought about that movie, Terrifier 2. It had a post-credits scene, and everyone’s expecting Terrifier 3 to have one too. Totally unrelated, but that’s where my mind went. Anyway, that was my little adventure with a dumb, simple program. It’s not going to win any awards, but it was a fun little distraction. And hey, it printed “big white men” a whole bunch of times, so mission accomplished, I guess.
