That Sneaker Experiment
Okay, so listen up. I saw these Prada sneakers guys wear, the chunky dad shoe kind, online and thought, “man, those look kinda cool.” Wanted to see what the fuss was about, try out that rich guy look without, you know, actually being rich. Figured I could try my own version, save some cash.

Step one: Rummaged around my house like crazy. Knew I had some old running shoes stuffed in a box somewhere. Dug out this pair of beat-up, maybe ten-year-old cross-trainers. White, kinda dirty, soles worn almost smooth. Perfect base material! Kinda ugly already, so messing them up wouldn’t hurt.
Step two: Needed to find stuff to glue on. More digging. Found:
- A broken black plastic belt – cut off the buckle part.
- An old leather wallet with a logo patch – ripped the patch out.
- A spare piece of red fabric from curtains? Looked fancy, figured it might pass.
- Random metal bits from who knows what.
Step three: Got the super glue. Messy business. Tried sticking the belt buckle bit on the tongue. Glued my fingers together briefly. Pain was insane! Pulled them apart, had glue skin bits stuck. Put the leather patch off-center on the side. Slapped the red curtain scrap on the other side. Shoved the metal bits near the heel. It was looking… chaotic. Like a pile of junk decided to become a shoe.
Step four: Tried wearing them anyway. Walked down the street. Felt weirdly tall and unsteady. Heard people whispering, pretty sure someone laughed out loud. Saw them staring at the red curtain scrap flapping loosely. Felt like a total idiot. The glued-on stuff started peeling within minutes. Metal bit dug into my ankle. Worst part? They looked nothing like the pictures! Just… bad.
Epic Fail: Realized halfway home my mistake was huge. I went cheap on the base shoe. Old cross-trainers, man! Wrong shape, wrong feel. Glued on trash. Trying to look rich? Ended up looking like a clown who raided a dumpster. Should’ve just saved up for fake ones online, maybe. Or picked a better shoe to start with. Or just accepted my non-Prada life. Lesson learned? Yeah, probably stick to comfy shoes you can afford. Experiment over. Filed this project under ‘stupid stuff I tried’ and tossed those abominations straight in the bin. Foot hurt for days.
