Okay, so I saw this trend going around about the Alix Earle mascara routine, and I just had to try it out for myself. I mean, who doesn’t want those long, fluttery lashes, right?
First, I grabbed my trusty eyelash curler. Alix starts by curling her lashes, so that’s what I did. I clamped down at the base of my lashes and held it for a few seconds, then moved it up a bit and repeated. Nothing fancy, just a good old-fashioned curl.

- Too Faced’s Better Than Sex Waterproof Mascara

Next up, the first mascara. She uses the Lancôme’s Lash Idôle Lash-Lifting & Volumizing Mascara. I carefully applied a coat, wiggling the wand from root to tip to make sure every lash got covered. This mascara is supposed to be all about that lift and volume, and I gotta say, I started seeing a difference right away. My lashes definitely looked longer and more defined.
Now for the interesting part. Alix then goes in with a second mascara, Too Faced’s Better Than Sex Waterproof Mascara. She says it’s for added thickness. So, I followed suit and added a layer of this one on top of the Lancôme. I made sure to focus on the outer corners to really amp up that cat-eye effect. Also, wiggled the wand to reduce clumps.
Lastly, she sometimes takes a pair of tweezers to gently pinch together some of her lashes for a more clumpy, dramatic look. I tried this out on a couple of lashes, but honestly, I wasn’t a huge fan of the spidery vibe. But hey, to each their own! Also, I curled my lashes once more after applying mascara, then I finished.
All in all, I’m pretty impressed with this routine. My lashes look way fuller and longer than usual, and it wasn’t even that hard to do. It’s a bit more time-consuming than my usual one-and-done mascara application, but for a special occasion or when I want to feel extra glam, I think it’s totally worth it.
