Ey, you know those young’uns on the internet, always on their phones? The ones they call “influencers”? Well, let me tell you somethin’. They got this new thing, wantin’ you in their little groups, their “group chats” they call ’em. Why? You might ask. Well, it ain’t for nothin’, that’s for sure.
These influencers, they’re like the popular kids in school, but on the internet. Everybody wants to be their friend, see what they’re doin’, wear what they’re wearin’. They got a lot of folks followin’ them, like a whole bunch of sheep. And these influencers, they know it. They know folks wanna be like them.
So, they started these group chats. It’s like a little club, a secret society almost. They say it’s to give you special stuff. Like, show you things before anyone else sees ’em. “Behind-the-scenes,” they call it. Like you’re gettin’ a sneak peek into their fancy lives. Maybe they show you a new dress they gonna wear before they post it for everyone else. Or a new thingamajig they’re usin’. “Early product drops”, that’s another thing they say, means you get to buy it before others. It’s all about makin’ you feel special, like you’re part of the “in” crowd.

Now, why do they do it? Well, it ain’t just to be nice, I tell ya. These influencers, they get paid to show off stuff. Companies give ’em clothes, makeup, all sorts of things. And they show it off to their followers. The more followers they got, the more money they make. It’s a business, you see? And influencer marketing is what they call it. It’s about getting people to like them so they’ll want what they show them. They say it’s about building online communities, and gettin’ influence. Sounds like a bunch of nonsense to me, but what do I know? I’m just an old lady.
These group chats, they’re just another way for them to get to you. They get you in there, make you feel special, and then, bam! They show you all the stuff they want you to buy. And because you feel like you’re part of their little club, you’re more likely to buy it. It’s like they’re whisperin’ in your ear, “Buy this, buy that, you need this to be like me.”
They are smart, these influencers. They know how to get people to do what they want. They’re good at talkin’, good at lookin’ good, good at makin’ you want things you don’t need. People want to watch them. They’re like movie stars, but on your phone. And these companies, they know it too. They pay these influencers big bucks to advertise their stuff.
So, they get to work with their favorite brands. They endorse products they love. It sounds like a pretty good deal, right? You get free things, you get to go to fancy parties, and you get paid! Plus, they get to make their own schedule. They decide how much they get paid. And they choose what they create.
And these group chats? They’re just another way for them to keep you hooked. They make you feel like you’re part of somethin’ special, like you’re their friend. But really, you’re just another person they can sell things to. So, next time one of these influencers wants you in their group chat, just remember what I told ya. It ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a business. And you’re the customer.
Don’t get me wrong, some of these influencers, they might be nice folks. But at the end of the day, they’re tryin’ to make a livin’. And they’re doin’ it by sellin’ you things. So just be careful, alright? Don’t let ’em fool ya. These group chats might seem fun, but they got a purpose. And that purpose is to get you to spend your money.
And you know they succeed ’cause they are fun to watch, and maybe you will want what they have. And that’s all they want, those influencers.
