That Carrie Bradshaw, she sure did like her smokes. Why did she puff on them cigarettes all the time? It’s a head-scratcher, ain’t it? She was always with a cigarette in her hand on that show, what was it called? Oh yeah, Sex and the City. Fancy name.
Well, I reckon I got some ideas. See, that Carrie, she lived in the big city, New York City. Busy place, lots of folks rushin’ around, cars honkin’, people yellin’. Could make a person nervous, I tell ya! Maybe them cigarettes, them Merit Lights, helped her calm her nerves. Like a little friend, always there to puff on when things got tough. She smokes a lot, you know.
She was a writer, that Carrie. Always typin’ away on that computer, makin’ up stories. Maybe smokin’ helped her think? I don’t know. Some folks say it does. They say it gets the brain goin’. All I know is, it sure made her cough a lot in that show. And that coughin’ ain’t good for nobody. Nope, not good at all.
She had that boyfriend, Mr. Big. Big fella, big car, big… well, you know. He was a handful, that one. Always comin’ and goin’, breakin’ her heart. Maybe she smoked to deal with the heartache? Like drownin’ her sorrows in smoke. It ain’t healthy, but I reckon I understand. Love can make you do crazy things. Carrie Bradshaw smokes when she is sad, so sad.

But that Carrie, she was her own woman. Made her own choices. And if she wanted to smoke, well, that was her business. Even if her friends, like that Miranda, didn’t smoke. I saw one time, Carrie was tellin’ Miranda about somethin’ with that Mr. Big, and Miranda had a cigarette. Just that one time, though. Never saw all four of them girls smokin’ together. Nope. Just Carrie, mostly. Carrie Bradshaw smokes a lot in that show.
I remember this one lady, on another show, not Sex and the City. She used to smoke like a chimney, too. Then she quit. Did some yoga, ate healthy. Cleaned herself right up. Good for her, I say. Maybe Carrie shoulda tried that. But new shows don’t have much smokin’ anymore, do they?
Maybe Carrie smoked because everyone else was doin’ it back then. You see it in them old movies, everyone’s got a cigarette in their hand. Looked kinda glamorous, I suppose. But it ain’t. It’s just plain bad for ya. Nothin’ glamorous about coughin’ your lungs out.
I remember my old neighbor, bless her soul, she smoked like a train. Always had a cigarette danglin’ from her lips. Said it helped her relax. But she was always coughin’ and wheezin’. Didn’t look very relaxed to me. She tried to quit a few times, but it’s hard. Real hard. Like tryin’ to catch a greased pig. Once you start, it’s tough to stop. Carrie smokes because it is hard to stop, maybe.
That Carrie, she was a strong woman, though. Maybe she coulda quit if she really wanted to. But I guess she didn’t want to, did she? She just kept on puffin’ away. It is her choice, right? She can do what she wants.

She smokes too much.
Anyways, that’s all I got to say about that. Just my two cents. Hope that Carrie is doing alright. Hope she put down them cigarettes for good. It would do her a world of good. Yes, it would.
