Okay, let’s talk about Whitney Houston in the 80’s. What a time to be alive, right? I remember it like it was yesterday. I was really into her music back then.

So, first off, I got into this whole thing because I stumbled upon her debut album – you know, the self-titled one, “Whitney Houston,” released in February 1985. Man, that album was a game-changer. It was like, boom, Arista Records hit the jackpot again.

I started digging into the tracks. “You Give Good Love,” that was one of the first songs that really grabbed me. But then there were those three number-one hits, one after another! “Saving All My Love For You,” which, by the way, earned her a Grammy, “How Will I Know,” and “Greatest Love of All.” That last one, phew, it became an anthem. I mean, everyone was singing it.

Then I got curious, you know, about her style. The 80’s were all about the bling, and Whitney was the queen of it. I went through a ton of pictures and videos. Sequins everywhere! Mini dresses, gowns, jackets – you name it. She rocked them on stage, at events, just everywhere. Sparkle, sparkle, sparkle. It was her thing, and she owned it.

I also started watching her music videos. I watched her “I’m Every Woman.” And “Million Dollar Bill” from her final studio album, “I Look to You.” Those videos, they’re like a time capsule. Her voice, the fashion, the whole vibe – it’s pure 80s magic.

But it wasn’t just about the music and the looks. I realized how much she broke barriers. They called her “The Voice,” and for a good reason. Her singing was just… otherworldly. It had this gospel feel to it, so powerful and emotional. She became one of the best-selling solo artists ever, you know?
