Alright, so I’ve been seeing this “abg aesthetic” thing floating around everywhere, you know? And I thought, hey, why not give it a go myself. See what all the hype is about, document the process a bit. So, here’s how my little experiment went down.

First Things First: The Makeup Deep Dive

Okay, straight up, the makeup seemed like the biggest deal. It’s a whole look. I started by just looking at a ton of pictures, trying to break it down. Those brows are sharp, like, seriously defined. And the winged eyeliner? Don’t even get me started on trying to get those even.

My first few attempts were, let’s just say, interesting. I ended up with:

  • Eyeliner wings that looked like distant cousins, not even twins.
  • Contour that sometimes made me look like I’d rubbed dirt on my face. Not the vibe.
  • Figuring out the right amount of highlight so I wasn’t a disco ball.

And then, the lashes. Oh, the false lashes. I fumbled with glue, got them stuck to my eyelids, poked myself in the eye more times than I care to admit. But eventually, I kinda got the hang of positioning them. Practice, practice, practice, right? I found that a thinner band was easier for me to handle. No specific brands to shout out, just a lot of trial and error with different lash styles until I found something that didn’t feel like a small animal on my eyelid.

Next Up: Tackling The Wardrobe

So, makeup was one beast, but then came the clothes. This was definitely a shift from my usual comfy stuff. I did a lot of scrolling online, again, just to get a feel for the common themes. Lots of fitted pieces, some streetwear influence, definitely a bit more on the “going out” side of things.

I first tried to see what I could cobble together from my own closet. Pulled out anything black, anything remotely body-hugging. It was a bit of a struggle, not gonna lie. Most of my stuff just wasn’t cutting it. I realized I was missing some key pieces that really sell that particular look. I did end up picking up a couple of basic items, like a fitted black top and some high-waisted bottoms, just to see if I could make it work. Small steps, you know?

A Quick Note on Hair

Hair definitely plays a part too. From what I saw, it’s often very sleek, long, maybe with some color. I didn’t go for a drastic change here. My main effort was just making sure my hair looked super smooth and polished. Tried a center part, which is not my usual go-to. It’s amazing how small changes can alter your whole appearance.

Trying to Catch the ‘Vibe’

This was the tricky part. It’s more than just the clothes and makeup, isn’t it? There’s a certain confidence, a specific kind of energy. So, I put it all together – the makeup I’d painstakingly applied, the outfit I’d assembled. Stood in front of the mirror. Felt a bit like playing dress-up, initially. Took a few selfies, just to see how it translated in pictures. It’s one thing to see it in the mirror, another to see it on a screen.

So, What’s The Verdict? My Two Cents.

After all that faffing about, here’s what I think. Some elements of it? Pretty cool. I actually picked up a few new makeup tricks, especially with eyeliner – though I’m still not a pro. That sharp brow look? I can see myself incorporating a tamer version of that.

Is it my everyday style? Absolutely not. Too much effort for my regular life, ha! But it was a fun experiment. It’s always interesting to step outside your comfort zone and try something new. You learn a bit about what you like, what you don’t, and maybe find a few new things to add to your own personal style. For me, it was mostly about the process, seeing if I could even pull off the different components. And I did, to some extent. Good enough for a little personal project, anyway.
