Okay, so someone mentioned ‘vans pink and green’ the other day, and it just kicked off this whole memory trip for me. It wasn’t even about liking the shoes that much, you know?
It was during that weird time a couple of years back. Everything felt kinda slow, stuck in a rut. I got this idea fixed in my head: I needed a pair of Vans, specifically pink and green. Not just any pink and green, but this exact image I had conjured up. Don’t ask me why. Brains do weird stuff when they’re bored, I guess.
The Hunt Begins
So, I started looking. Like, really looking.
- First, the official Vans site. Nope.
- Then, every shoe store website I could think of. Nothing quite right.
- Then the deep dive: eBay, Depop, Poshmark, forums. Scrolling for hours.
I found some customs, sure, but they were either crazy expensive or looked kinda dodgy. Found some old models, but never in my size. It became this ridiculous quest. Every evening, after work, I’d be back at it, searching, comparing shades of pink and green.
It Got a Bit Much
Honestly, it started feeling less like wanting shoes and more like… I don’t know, needing a win? Finding this specific thing felt like it would fix something. Which is dumb, looking back.
I even thought about trying to customize a pair myself. Bought some plain white Vans, got some fabric paints – pink and green, obviously. Spent a whole Saturday taping them up, planning the design. It was fiddly work.
The Reality Check
Halfway through painting one shoe, with green paint kinda bleeding under the tape, I just stopped. Looked at the mess. Looked at the shoe. And thought, “What on earth am I actually doing?”
