Alright, let’s talk about getting my hands on those UNC 1s from 2015. It feels like a while ago now, but I remember wanting that specific colorway. Took a bit of effort, wasn’t just walking into a store, you know how it is with these drops.

Getting Them Home

Finally secured a pair. When the box arrived, I opened it up pretty quick. That University Blue color really stood out, just like I hoped. The smell of the new shoe materials hit me, that typical Jordan 1 scent.

I picked them up, felt the leather. Seemed okay for what they were putting out back then. Not super premium, but solid enough. Checked the stitching, looked alright. The Wings logo looked clean. Just did a basic once-over before trying them on.

First Time Wearing

Laced them up. Like most Jordan 1s, they felt stiff right out of the box. Definitely not something you’d call comfortable immediately. They needed breaking in, for sure. Walked around the house a bit. Felt that typical flat-footed feel of an old-school basketball shoe.

Took them outside for the first real wear. They looked great on feet, that blue really pops, especially in sunlight. But yeah, comfort wasn’t the main thing here. More about the look and the history of the colorway.

Breaking Them In & Living With Them

Wore them quite a bit over the next few months. They did loosen up, got a bit more comfortable as the leather softened and molded to my feet. Still wouldn’t wear them for a long day of walking, but for casual outings, they were fine.

Looking Back

They’re still in my collection. Don’t wear them as often now, got other pairs in rotation. But I still like them. That UNC blue is just classic. They’ve held up reasonably well considering how much I wore them initially. They show their age a bit with the creasing and slight yellowing, but that’s just evidence of them being worn, right?

Overall: Happy I got them back in 2015. A solid shoe, iconic color. Maybe not the most comfortable thing ever made, but they look great and have that history behind them. Definitely a good pickup from that time.
