Alright, so Thanksgiving was getting close, and you know how it is, you start thinking about all the stuff you need. For me, it wasn’t the main turkey or anything, but those last-minute bits and pieces. Drinks, maybe some extra snacks, definitely paper plates because we always seem to run out.

My first thought was BJ’s. It’s nearby, big warehouse place, usually has what I need in bulk which is handy. But then, the big question mark popped into my head: Holiday hours. Thanksgiving Day, specifically. Places have weird schedules, some close entirely.
Checking the Hours
I really didn’t want to drive over there on Thanksgiving morning, or even the day before, just to find the doors locked. That’s just a waste of time and gas. So, I decided I had to check first.
Here’s what I did:
- First, I grabbed my phone. It’s usually the quickest way, right?
- I opened up the BJ’s app. I figured they’d probably have an alert or something right on the front page, or at least make the hours easy to find.
- Took a second to look around the app interface. Found the ‘Club Hours’ or ‘Store Locator’ section, something like that.
- Tapped into my local store’s details.
- And there it was. Pretty clear: Closed on Thanksgiving Day.
Okay, so that answered the main question. No BJ’s run on Thursday itself. Good to know.
Just to be sure, I also quickly checked the hours for Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving, and Black Friday. The app showed they were open on those days, though I figured Wednesday might be absolutely packed. It usually is.

I could have gone to their website on my computer too, probably would have found the same info. Or even called the store directly, but honestly, waiting on hold, especially right before a holiday? Nah, the app was way easier this time.
The Outcome
So, yeah. The result of my little check was finding out BJ’s is definitely closed on Thanksgiving Day itself. Saved myself a potentially pointless trip. Now I know I gotta get everything I need from there either Tuesday or Wednesday at the latest. Probably gonna brave the crowds on Wednesday afternoon, wish me luck.
It’s always worth taking a minute to check those holiday hours beforehand. Simple step, but saves a lot of hassle.
