So I’ve been getting tons of questions about this Ralph Lauren Amagansett stuff lately. Honestly, I didn’t know squat about it until last week when I walked into their store by accident. Thought it was just another polo shirt joint, but boy was I wrong.

First Impressions Hit Different
Stepped into the Amagansett section and immediately noticed how everything felt… lighter? Like physically lighter fabrics but also the whole vibe wasn’t so stuffy. Started running my hands through these:
- Washed-linen shirts that felt like pajamas
- Flowy cotton dresses with little sailboat prints
- Faded denim jackets that looked pre-loved
Sales lady saw me gawking and dropped the key phrase: “It’s our Hamptons escape collection.” That clicked – this ain’t your dad’s stiff polo gear.
The Devil’s in the Distressing
Tried on this chambray shirt and actually laughed at the tag. They literally call the color “sun-bleached blue.” Then noticed all the sneaky details:
- Buttons made to look like sea glass
- Raw hem finishes on tees
- Patchwork on sweaters like they’d been mended at some beach shack
It’s all pretend-worn! Genius marketing if you ask me. Makes you feel like you’re some old-money east-coaster even if you’re just wearing it to Walmart.
The Price Tag Reality Check
Almost choked when I flipped over a basic striped tee – eighty freakin’ bucks for something pretending to be worn-out! But then I touched this cashmere throw blanket… and understood. The quality’s insane if you can swallow the:

- $200+ for sweaters
- $400 for jackets
- Basically mortgage payments for dresses
Left empty-handed but dreamt about those linen pants for three nights straight. Might bite the bullet come payday.
