Okay, so let’s talk about eye shapes. I’ve always been kind of interested in this, you know, how different people’s eyes can look so unique. So, I started looking into it, and let me tell you, it’s a whole world out there!

First, I started by just observing people around me. I noticed that some folks have eyes where you can see the whole iris, that colorful part, while others have eyes where the upper or lower eyelid covers a bit of it. That’s when I realized, “Hey, there’s something to this eye shape thing!”
Then I decided to do some good old-fashioned research. I read a bunch of articles online. They talked about all these fancy names for eye shapes – almond, round, monolid, downturned, you name it.
So I started practicing. I spent like, an hour, just staring at myself in the mirror. Kind of creepy, but I was determined. I was trying to figure out if my eyes were almond-shaped because the outer corners kind of go up a bit.
I also tried to identify other people’s eye shapes, for instance, my close friend. I’ve known her for years, but never paid attention to her eyes. After careful observation, I think her eyes are downturned, because the outer corners seem to point downwards. It was a fun experiment to do with my friends.
Here’s what I gathered about some common eye shapes:

- Almond: They say these are like the classic eye shape, kind of like an almond, you know, with a wider center and pointed ends. And apparently, they’re not as common as you’d think.
- Round: These are more circular, and you can usually see the white part of the eye all around the iris.
- Monolid: This is where the eyelid doesn’t have a crease. It’s common in people of East Asian descent, and it gives a really unique look.
- Downturned: Like the name suggests, the outer corners of the eyes droop downwards a bit.
- Hooded: This is where the crease of the eyelid isn’t really visible because the skin above it folds over.
Honestly, figuring out your own eye shape can be a bit tricky. And you know what? Some people even have a mix of shapes. Like, maybe one eye is slightly more almond-shaped than the other. Our bodies are weird, right?
Anyway, it was a fun little experiment. Now, every time I meet someone new, I can’t help but sneak a peek at their eyes and try to figure out their shape. Don’t worry, I try not to be too obvious about it! It’s just a little game I play in my head. Try it sometime, it’s pretty interesting!
