When my Juventus slippers started falling apart
Alright so last month I bought those Juventus branded slippers everybody’s talking about. Not even cheap stuff. Figured with a big football club name on ’em they’d last, right? Wrong. Got curious about what junk they used making these after the right sole peeled off like bad wallpaper.
Testing what these things are made of
First I dunked ’em in water. Not a scientific lab test just my kitchen sink. Left one slipper soaking like dirty dishes for an hour. Pulled it out and squeezed hard. Water dripped out like I’d wrung a sponge! Felt heavy and soggy. Told me the inside foam sucks up water worse than my kitchen towel.
Next I tried tearing that peeling sole with my hands. Pulled it like taffy. No scissors needed. Saw three layers straight away:
- Top layer: That printed team logo thing? Just flimsy plastic glued on. Peeling everywhere.
- Middle stuff: Some grey sponge that crumbles like old bread.
- Bottom: Thin rubber sheet – no grip at all. Slipped walking on tiles.
Made my dog wear one for a walk around my backyard. Just three minutes later that slipper looked wrecked. Dirt stuck to the sponge layer like glue. Scraped off mud with a knife – took half the foam with it. Didn’t even step on anything sharp!
What this whole mess taught me
Finished my “tests” by bending one slipper till it cracked. Heard that cheap plastic crack same as stepping on dry twigs. Bottom line? Forget durability. Feels like they slapped some plastic on bargain bin foam, stamped Juve’s logo on it and called it merchandise. Stick with cheap no-brand slippers – save cash for actual football tickets instead. Big brand name means junk quality sometimes.
