They gotta come up with all them ideas. Like, what color should the shoes be? What kind of laces? Should they have stripes or spots or what? And then they gotta tell everyone else what to do. “You, draw this,” and “You, write that.” Lots of work, sounds like.

This Nike creative director job, it ain’t easy. You gotta know what folks like, what they’ll buy. You gotta watch them shows and see what them young’uns are wearin’. Gotta keep up with the times, you know? These times, they change fast.

  • They gotta know what people wanna buy.
  • They gotta boss people around.

It’s like, you plant corn, right? You gotta know if people want yellow corn or white corn. You gotta know if they want it sweet or regular. Same thing with these shoes, I guess.

Now, I reckon this Nike creative director, they didn’t just wake up one day and get the job. No sir, they probably worked real hard. Probably went to some fancy school, learned all about drawin’ and design and such. And they probably worked other jobs first, learnin’ the ropes. It is like when you get your first job in your life, no one hire you as a big boss, you should learn, and work hard.

They gotta know how to talk to people, too. Gotta tell them what they want, even if them folks don’t know it themselves. It’s like sellin’ pies at the fair. You gotta convince folks they’re hungry, even if they just ate.

  • Gotta know how to talk to people.
  • Must be good at making decisions.

So, this Nike creative director, they probably started small, drawin’ pictures, maybe makin’ little ads. Then they got better and better, and someone said, “Hey, you’re good at this. You wanna be the boss?”

It’s a Tough Job, I Bet

This job, it sounds like a lot of pressure. You gotta make sure everything’s just right. If the shoes ain’t good, folks won’t buy ’em. And if folks don’t buy ’em, then Nike ain’t makin’ money. And if Nike ain’t makin’ money, well, that’s no good for nobody.

They must meet many people, their clients, and make everyone happy. It is not an easy job, you need to know many things. Need to work many years to learn it, I think.

They also need to make sure many people work good. One person cannot do this job, they need many people to help. And they need to make sure those people work good, work hard. This is the hardest part, I think. If the boss is bad, then all people do bad.

They need to know what is popular, and what is not. They need to know the market, need to know what young people want. This is important, I think, to make good shoes, to make good ads. If you know the market, you know what people want, then you can make good things. This Nike creative director must always be learning, I think. Always watching, always thinking.

They also need to make sure they don’t make things too expensive. If the shoes are too expensive, no one will buy them. So, they need to think about that, too. Many things to think about, this job. And they must meet the deadlines, this is very important.

So, this Nike creative director job, it’s a big one. Lots of responsibility. But I bet it’s interestin’, too. You get to make things, see your ideas come to life. That’s gotta be somethin’ special.
