Figuring Out How to Stick Them Together
So, what did I do? Well, I didn’t go out and invent some fancy gadget. Nah, my skills aren’t quite there, and honestly, I just wanted to see if the idea even made sense for me, in a real-world, everyday kind of way. This was more of a personal experiment, a bit of tinkering.
First, I dug out an old watch. One of those slightly bigger, tougher-looking ones that I didn’t mind messing up. Then, I found a really small, flat multi-tool. The kind that’s barely thicker than a credit card but has a tiny knife, a screwdriver, that sort of thing.
My first brilliant idea was, naturally, super glue. Don’t do that. Just… don’t. It was messy, and didn’t hold properly. Plus, getting it off was a nightmare. Lesson learned. Then I thought about trying to somehow strap it to the watchband. I messed around with some strong, thin cord, trying to weave it through the multi-tool’s keychain hole and then around the band. It was fiddly, took ages. Lots of trial and error. My fingers were sore for a day.

So, Was It Worth It? The Real Deal
Honestly? It was… okay. For a bit. I wore it around for a week or two. It was kinda cool to just flick my wrist and have a tiny blade to open a package, or a small screwdriver for a loose screw on my glasses. Definitely got a few weird looks, though. My wife just rolled her eyes every time she saw it, asked if I was planning to audition for a low-budget spy movie.
The biggest problem was that it wasn’t that comfortable. The multi-tool, even a small one, made the watch sit a bit funny on my wrist. And using the tools while they were still attached to the watch was awkward. I usually ended up detaching it if I really needed to use a tool properly, which kind of defeated the purpose of the “all-in-one” quick access.
In the end, I went back to carrying them separately. Turns out, some things are separate for a good reason. It was a fun little project, though.
