Alright, alright, let me tell ya somethin’ about this rag & bone soho place. Don’t know much about fancy words, but I know what I see, ya know?
First off, this rag & bone, it’s a store, I reckon. Been around since, what, 2002? That’s a long time, even for an old hen like me. They say it’s from New York, big city stuff. Folks there, they like things…different. Not like us country folk, no sir.
Now, they say this store, it mixes old-timey British things with new-fangled, modern…lookin’ stuff. Sounds like a hodgepodge to me, but what do I know? I guess city folks like that kinda thing. Mix and match, they call it. Like when you throw all your leftovers in a pot and call it stew, only fancier, I guess.
This rag & bone soho, it’s in a big buildin’, prob’ly. Like them places they got in the city, full of all sorts of things. They got this place called “Top of the Rock,” prob’ly high up, where you can see everything. And “NBC Studios,” where they make them shows on the telly. And “Rainbow Room,” sounds colorful, huh? Maybe they got pretty lights in there. All this fancy stuff, crammed together like sardines in a can.
This store, it seems like it wants to be…noticed. You know, like a rooster crowin’ at the crack of dawn. They did somethin’ real silly, though. They smashed up a perfectly good car, an old Porsche they called it, in an ad. Said it was art. Art? Hmph! Looked like a waste of good metal to me. Reminds me of that time Billy Joe tried to fix the tractor with a hammer and ended up breakin’ it worse. Some things you just don’t mess with, ya know?
- They got this “rag-and-bone” name. Sounds like somethin’ an old junkman would do, goin’ around pickin’ up scraps. I remember old man Johnson, used to come by with his horse and cart, takin’ old clothes and furniture. Said he could make somethin’ outta nothin’. Guess that’s what this store is tryin’ to do too, make somethin’ outta…old ideas and new ones, maybe?
- And this “soho” part, I dunno, prob’ly just a fancy name for a place. Like “Willow Creek” back home, only prob’ly with more concrete and less willows.
They were talkin’ about it online, too. Saw it on that there internet thing my grandson showed me. ragandbone, they called themselves, on that “October 2” thing. Prob’ly showin’ off their fancy clothes, or maybe that smashed-up car. City folks and their…ways.
So, this rag & bone soho, it’s a place where you can get clothes, I reckon. Clothes that are prob’ly expensive and…different. Mix and match, old and new, British and…city. It’s a whole lotta things all rolled into one. Like a big ol’ ball of yarn, all tangled up but somehow still holdin’ together.
If you’re lookin’ for somethin’…unusual, somethin’ that’ll make folks stare, then maybe this is your place. But if you’re like me, and you like things simple and sturdy, like a good pair of overalls, well, then maybe you should just stick to the Sears catalog. That’s where I get my clothes, and they do just fine, thank ya very much. They last a good long time, too, unlike these newfangled city things that prob’ly fall apart after you wash ’em once.
Anyways, that’s all I know about this rag & bone soho. Don’t take my word for it, though. Go see for yourself, if you’re brave enough to wander around them big city streets. Just watch out for them cars, they drive like maniacs, I tell ya. And don’t go smashin’ up any good vehicles, that’s just plain foolishness.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go feed the chickens. They’re prob’ly wonderin’ where their supper is. At least they don’t care about fancy clothes or “art.” They just want their corn, and that’s somethin’ I can understand.
