Well, let me tell ya, this here Blue Angel Hello Kitty thing, it’s all the rage now, like them fancy city folks say. I don’t rightly know why, but everyone’s goin’ gaga over it.
First off, they say it’s a limited edition. Means they ain’t makin’ a whole heap of ’em. And this “Y2K” thing? Sounds like somethin’ from a sci-fi movie. But it’s got this baby blue color, like a robin’s egg, and these angel wings slapped on it. Now, I ain’t never seen an angel, but I reckon they must be pretty if they look somethin’ like that.
- Baby Blue Color: It’s this soft blue, purdy like the sky on a clear day.
- Angel Wings: They stuck wings on the kitty, makin’ her look all heavenly and such.
Folks been huntin’ for these things like they’re hidin’ gold. One fella I know, he went all over town, lookin’ in them big stores like Target and that Five Below place. Said he found everything he was lookin’ for, even these little bitty ones, “minis” he called ’em. He was showin’ off his mugs, too. Said folks like to collect ’em. Guess it’s like stamp collectin’, but with purdy kitty pictures.
Now, I ain’t one for buyin’ a bunch of doodads, but even I gotta admit, this blue kitty is kinda cute. At first, I thought, “Nah, I don’t need none of that.” I mean, it’s just a cat, right? But then I saw it, all blue and sparkly, and I thought, “Well, maybe just one little thing wouldn’t hurt.”
This Forever 21 store, that’s where they’re sellin’ it. But you gotta be quick, like a chicken snatchin’ a worm. Folks are linin’ up, or sittin’ at their computers, waitin’ for these things to “drop,” like they’re fallin’ from the sky. One gal, she was tellin’ me how she got up early, afore the sun even thought about risin’, just to get her hands on three of them. Said there’s a whole bunch of folks on the internet, thousands of ’em, in some “Hello Kitty community.” Said it’s like a magical land, filled with this here kitty and her friends. Sounds like a fairy tale to me.
People are always askin’, “When’s it comin’ out? What time they gonna put it on the website?” Seems like nobody knows for sure. Forever 21, they like to keep folks guessin’, I reckon. But when it does come out, it’s like a swarm of bees on a honeysuckle bush. Everyone’s buzzin’ around, grabbin’ whatever they can get their hands on.
I even saw some pictures on that internet thingy, this “Instagram” they call it. Some gal was showin’ off her Blue Angel stuff, said it was “heavenly.” Well, I ain’t been to heaven, but if it’s full of blue kitties, I guess it can’t be too bad.
And then there’s these videos, where folks are openin’ up boxes, showin’ off what they got. It’s like Christmas mornin’, but all year round. They call ’em “unboxings.” Seems like a silly thing to do, but folks watch ’em. Guess they wanna see what all the fuss is about.
So, this Blue Angel Hello Kitty, it’s a big deal, apparently. I still don’t quite understand it, but if it makes folks happy, then I reckon it’s alright. Maybe I’ll even get myself one of them little minis, just to see what all the hubbub is about. But I ain’t gonna go standin’ in no line or stayin’ up all night. I got better things to do, like feedin’ my chickens and makin’ sure the cows don’t get into the cornfield.
Collectibles, they call ’em. Guess that means they’re worth somethin’. But to me, the best things in life ain’t somethin’ you can buy in a store. It’s family, friends, and a good cup of coffee in the mornin’. But hey, if a little blue kitty can bring a smile to someone’s face, then I guess there ain’t no harm in it. It ain’t hurtin’ nobody, and that’s what matters.
