So, I’ve been wanting to customize my Dunks for a while, and I finally took the plunge! I decided to go with a navy blue and pink color scheme, which I thought would be a cool, unique combo. Here’s how the whole process went down:
Getting Started
First, I grabbed a pair of plain white Dunks. That was the easy part. Finding the right shades of navy blue and pink fabric paint? That was a whole other story. I went to, like, three different craft stores before I found exactly what I was looking for.
Prepping the Shoes
Before I started painting, I made sure to clean the shoes really well. I just used some soapy water and a toothbrush to scrub off any dirt or residue. Then, I stuffed the shoes with paper towels to help them keep their shape while I painted.
The Painting Process
- I started with the navy blue, carefully painting the sections I wanted. I did a couple of coats to make sure the color was nice and solid.
- Then came the pink. This was a bit trickier, since I wanted to create some clean lines between the two colors. I used some painter’s tape to help with this, but it was still a bit nerve-wracking!
- I let each coat of paint dry completely before adding the next. Patience is key, people! It’s tough, but necessary.
The Finishing Touches
Once everything was dry, I removed the tape and did some minor touch-ups with a small brush. There were a few spots where the colors had bled a little, but nothing major.
The Final Result
I’m pretty stoked with how they turned out! The navy blue and pink look really sharp together. It took some time and effort, but it was totally worth it to have a pair of one-of-a-kind Dunks. Might try some other colors in the futrue!
