Well, let me tell you, I seen a lot of things in my day, but this monkey business is somethin’ else. Monkey exhibitor, they call it. Now, I ain’t no fancy city folk with their big words, but I reckon it means folks showin’ off their monkeys.

Seen a thing or two ’bout monkeys myself, ya know. Some folks say this one kind, the capuchin monkey, is the friendliest. They’re the ones always carryin’ on, playin’ and such. Makes ’em popular, I guess. Some even keep ’em as pets, though I heard tell that ain’t always allowed.
Now, you gotta understand, there’s all sorts of these critters. They got these lists, you see. They put the monkeys on a list. Rankin’ ’em, they say. I reckon it is like at the county fair, judgin’ the best pie or the biggest pumpkin. These monkey lists got names too. Primary monkeys, they call some. Supposed to mean they are good at their job. They do things like have damage, range, or whatever other fancy words they use to talk about them. Some folks really like these lists, they say it helps them to choose a monkey. And others don’t like them as much. It’s all different strokes for different folks I suppose.
And then there’s these spider monkeys. Heard tell they’re somethin’ special. Some folks say they’re the best. Like, the top dog, or should I say, the top monkey? They got special places for ’em, I reckon. Like a fancy house just for spider monkeys. I do not know what makes them so special though. I think all monkeys are great in their own ways.
- Capuchin monkeys – they’re the smart ones.
- Chimpanzees – they’re friendly, some folks say.
- Spider monkeys – real popular, these ones.
Some folks, they just like the little monkeys. The tiny ones. Say they’re cute and playful. But you gotta be careful, I reckon. They might be small, but they’re still wild animals. Not somethin’ you just bring home like a stray cat. They need special care, I think. And some people say these monkeys are hard to take care of. They say they need a lot of attention. So even though they are cute and playful, you better think twice before getting one.
These lists, they got all sorts of categories. Best for this, best for that. Like choosin’ the right tool for the job, I suppose. They got one for “Freeplay,” whatever that means. And “Chimps,” that one I kinda get. Then there’s “Bosses” and “Races.” Sounds like a whole lot of fuss if you ask me. These words don’t make a lot of sense to me. But I am just an old lady who don’t know too much about these things. I just like to watch the monkeys play around.

They use a point system, too. Like keepin’ score in a game. More points means better, I guess. Five points, one point, all sorts of numbers. They add ’em up, average ’em out. All to figure out which monkey is the best, accordin’ to their rules. I suppose if you are gonna rank them, that is one way to do it. Using points can help you keep track of the monkeys.
I seen a fella once, he had a monkey that could do all sorts of tricks. Ride a little bicycle, even. That monkey, he was somethin’ else. Didn’t need no list to tell you he was special. But I guess these lists help some folks make sense of it all. Which monkey is best for what.
They got these lists everywhere, I tell ya. On the internet, in books, probably even on the television. Folks love to rank things, don’t they? Guess it makes ’em feel like they know somethin’. And maybe they do. I ain’t one to judge. I just like watchin’ the monkeys, no matter what list they’re on.
These monkey exhibitors, they travel around, showin’ off their monkeys. Like a travelin’ circus, I suppose. People pay good money to see ’em. And the monkeys, they seem to enjoy it, most of the time. They get to see new places, meet new people. I reckon it is an excitin’ life for a monkey.
So, there you have it. That’s what I know ’bout this monkey exhibitor business. It’s a whole world out there, full of different kinds of monkeys, and folks who love ’em. And lists. Lots and lots of lists. But me, I just like to see ’em smile. That’s all that matters, really. A smilin’ monkey is a happy monkey, list or no list. It is good to see them happy.
