Okay, here’s my sharing about making a suede brown tote bag:

So, I wanted to make this suede brown tote bag, and I thought, why not share the whole messy process with you guys? I started with picking out the suede. I spent a good chunk of time at the fabric store, feeling up all the different browns until I found one that was just right – not too light, not too dark, kinda like milk chocolate.
Next up, I had to cut the suede. I laid it all out on my living room floor, which was a bit of a pain, to be honest. I grabbed my rotary cutter and a big ruler and got to work. It wasn’t perfect, but I managed to cut out two large rectangles for the front and back, plus some smaller pieces for the sides and bottom.
- First, I sewed the sides to the bottom.
- Then, I attached the front and back panels.
- Flipped the whole thing inside out, and bam, it started looking like a bag!
Making the straps was tricky. I wanted them to be strong, so I cut four long strips and sewed two together for each strap. Turning them right side out was a real struggle, I won’t lie. It took a lot of patience and a chopstick to push the fabric through.
Finally, I sewed the straps onto the bag. I reinforced them a bunch of times because I didn’t want them snapping off when I’m carrying groceries or whatever. And that was it! It wasn’t easy, and my apartment was a disaster zone of suede scraps, but I ended up with a pretty cool tote bag.
The whole thing took me, like, two weekends. And yeah, I definitely made some mistakes along the way. But you know what? I learned a lot, and I’ve got a unique bag that I’m kinda proud of. It’s not store-bought perfect, but it’s got character, you know? It was a fun little project, and maybe it’ll inspire some of you to try making your own stuff too. You never know what you might be able to create!
