Style Your Watch: Over Sleeve or Under? (Tips to Elevate Your Look in Simple and Easy Way)

Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with my watch and shirts lately, trying to figure out the best way to wear them. You know, the whole “watch over the sleeve or under” dilemma. It’s been bugging me for a while now, so I decided to just dive in and see what works best for me.

Style Your Watch: Over Sleeve or Under? (Tips to Elevate Your Look in Simple and Easy Way)

Experiment Time

First off, I grabbed a bunch of my shirts – some with tighter cuffs, some looser. Then I tried wearing my watch under the sleeve like I usually do. It felt okay, pretty normal, you know? But then, I started thinking, maybe it’s time to switch things up.

So, I tried putting my watch over the sleeve. Honestly, it felt a bit weird at first. Like, I was very aware of the watch being there, you know? And with some shirts, it just looked kinda bulky and awkward.

  • Shirt 1: A regular button-down with normal cuffs. Watch under the sleeve was fine, but over the sleeve? Not so much. It kept catching on the fabric and just didn’t look right.
  • Shirt 2: This one had tighter, elastic cuffs. Wearing the watch under was a bit of a struggle to get it to peek out. Over the sleeve actually worked pretty well here, surprisingly. The watch stayed put, and it didn’t look too bad.
  • Shirt 3: A loose, flowy shirt. Watch under the sleeve was almost invisible. Over the sleeve? Looked a bit odd, like the watch was floating or something.

More Trials

I wore the watch over my shirt sleeve all day and tried to take notes. After work I got home and tried some more combinations, I swapped out different watches, too. My big, chunky diver watch definitely didn’t work over the sleeve for most shirts. But my thinner, dressier watch? Sometimes it actually looked pretty good over the sleeve, especially with those tighter cuffs.

The Verdict?

So, what did I learn from all this? Well, there’s no one-size-fits-all answer, obviously. It really depends on the shirt, the watch, and, I guess, your personal style. For me, I think I’ll mostly stick to wearing my watch under the sleeve. It’s just more comfortable and looks more natural most of the time. But, I’m not totally against wearing it over the sleeve sometimes, especially if I’m wearing a shirt with tight cuffs and a slimmer watch. It can actually add a little something extra to the outfit, you know?

It was a fun little experiment, though. Maybe you should try it out and see what works for you! There are no hard and fast rules with this stuff, so just mess around and find your own style.
