Okay, so I saw this trend going around, “air max 97 megan thee stallion,” and I was like, I gotta try this. I’m no sneaker customizer, but I’m pretty crafty, so I figured, why not?
Getting Started
First things first, I needed the shoes. I snagged a pair of plain white Air Max 97s. I think any color could work, but white seemed like the best blank canvas for this project.
The Megan Thee Stallion Inspiration
I spent a good chunk of time just looking at pictures of Megan Thee Stallion. Her style is so bold and unique, I wanted to make sure I captured that. I noticed a lot of fiery colors, animal prints, and just general badass vibes. I jotted down some ideas, like flames, maybe some leopard print, and definitely some bling.
Prepping the Shoes
Before I went wild with the paint, I cleaned the shoes really well. I just used some soapy water and a toothbrush to get any dirt or dust off. Then, I taped off the parts of the shoe I didn’t want to paint, like the soles and the Air Max bubble. This part was kinda tedious, but super important if you don’t want a messy result.
Painting Time
- I decided to use acrylic paint. It is what I had at home.
- I started with the flames. I mixed some red, orange, and yellow paint to get that gradient effect, and carefully painted the flames along the sides of the shoes. It took a couple of coats to get the colors really vibrant.
- I used a pen to draw and fill those details.
The Finishing Touches
Once everything was dry, I carefully removed the tape. And that’s it.
