Okay, so, I’ve been really getting into this whole sixties fashion thing lately. It’s just so cool, you know? The colors, the patterns, everything! I decided I was gonna try to put together some outfits inspired by the ’60s, and, well, I figured I’d share the whole adventure with you guys.

First off, I spent hours looking up pictures online. I typed in “sixties outfits images” and, man, the stuff that came up was amazing! There were tons of pictures of old magazine ads, movie stars, and just regular folks from back then. I started saving a bunch of these pictures to a folder on my computer.
Gathering Inspiration
- Mini Skirts: I saw a lot of short skirts, like, really short.
- Shift Dresses: These were everywhere, too. They looked so simple and comfy.
- Bright Colors and Patterns: Lots of bold colors and crazy patterns, especially those swirly psychedelic ones.
- Mod Style: This was a big one. It seemed to be all about looking sharp and youthful.
After I felt like I had a good grasp of the styles, I started going through my own closet. Sadly, I didn’t have a ton of stuff that really fit the ’60s vibe. A few things here and there, but not enough to make full outfits.
Putting It All Together
So, I hit up some thrift stores. It was actually a lot of fun digging through racks and trying to find things that looked like they came straight out of a ’60s movie. I found this awesome bright orange dress that looked just like the shift dresses I’d seen in the pictures. I also managed to snag a couple of patterned skirts and some chunky sweaters. Then I started matching them, just like I saw in the pictures. It wasn’t too hard, but I had to go back to the pictures over and over again.
Then, I went to some regular stores to fill in the gaps. I got some plain white button-down shirts, some black tights, and a pair of low-heeled shoes. I also found a really cool pair of big, round sunglasses that just screamed “sixties.” I tried to find some bell-bottom jeans and plaid pants. I did find some, but they were either not my size or way too expensive. I will try to get them later, maybe.
Finally, I started putting the outfits together. It was so much fun mixing and matching everything! I ended up with a few different looks that I was pretty happy with. One was the orange shift dress with the sunglasses and low heels. Another was a patterned skirt with a white button-down and a chunky sweater. I even managed to pull off a sort of mod-inspired look with a black turtleneck and a pair of black pants I already owned. My favorite was a mix of everything, it made me feel like I was on a movie or something.

It took a while, but I really enjoyed the whole process. I learned a lot about ’60s fashion, and I had a blast putting together these outfits. I definitely recommend giving it a try if you’re into vintage styles. It’s like stepping back in time, but in a really fun, fashionable way! You can even take some pictures like I did if you are into that kind of thing.
Anyways I hope you enjoyed the read. I will try to do something like this again. See you guys later!
