Okay, so I decided to go all in on an Anna Delvey costume this year. You know, the fake German heiress who scammed her way through New York high society? It seemed like a fun and, frankly, pretty easy costume to pull together.

Finding the Right Pieces

First things first, I needed to nail that “rich but trying not to look rich” vibe. I mean, she wore designer stuff, but it was often understated, you know?

I started with the glasses. Those thick, black, Celine-esque frames were KEY. I found a super similar pair.

Next, I focused on the clothes. I already had a simple, but good quatily, black dress.

I also picked up a white shirt. I figured I could wear it under the dress for one look, or maybe tie it up for another.

Putting It All Together

The day of, I put on the black dress and the glasses. Immediately, I felt a little bit more…devious? Haha.

I decided to go with simple, sleek hair, just straight and parted down the middle. No crazy updos for Anna.

For makeup, I kept it pretty minimal. Just some foundation, mascara, and a nude lip. She wasn’t about the super glam look.

The final touch? I practiced my best “vaguely European” accent. I’m pretty sure I sounded more ridiculous than convincing, but hey, it added to the fun.

The Reaction

Everyone got a good laugh, they thought I pull it off. And honestly, it was one of the most comfortable costumes I’ve ever worn!

The best part was acting the part. All night, I kept slipping into my terrible accent and pretending I had no idea what anything cost. “Oh, this old thing? I have no idea, my stylist picked it out…”

It was simple, but perfect!
