Okay, here’s my blog post about my experience with patent leather Nike Dunks:
Alright, so I’ve been seeing these patent leather Nike Dunks pop up everywhere, and I finally decided to grab a pair. I’ve always been a sucker for shiny things, and I figured, why not give these a shot? This is the whole story, start to finish.
The Hunt
First off, finding the colorway I wanted was a bit of a mission. I wasn’t after anything super hyped, but I had a specific color combo in my head. I started by browsing a few local sneaker shops. I struck out at a few places – either they didn’t have Dunks in stock, or they only had the regular leather ones, or the colors just weren’t doing it for me.
After that, I figured I’d try my luck online. I went through all the usual suspects, but I was getting worried about fakes. It’s a minefield out there! Then, I remembered a friend mentioning a smaller sneaker boutique that’s a bit further out, but they’re known for being legit.
The Score!
Bingo! I drove out to the smaller shop, and they had exactly what I was looking for – a pair of patent leather Dunks in a clean black and white colorway. They even had my size! I tried them on, and they felt great. The patent leather was super glossy, just like I’d hoped.
Breaking Them In (Or Not)
Now, I’d heard some mixed things about patent leather. Some people said it creases like crazy, others said it’s pretty durable. I decided to be extra careful with these. I wore them around the house for a few hours the first day, just to get a feel for them. No walks outside yet!

The next day, I took a short walk in them, nothing too crazy. I wanted to see how they felt on the pavement. So far, so good! They were surprisingly comfortable, and the patent leather didn’t seem to be creasing too badly. I even got a few compliments on them, which is always a bonus.
Cleaning Adventures
Okay, here’s where things got a little interesting. After a few wears, I noticed a few scuff marks on the patent leather. I panicked a little, because I didn’t want to ruin them. I grabbed a damp cloth and gently tried to wipe the scuffs off. Most of them came off pretty easily, but there were a couple of stubborn ones.
I did a little research (basically, I googled it) and found out that a magic eraser could work. I was a bit hesitant, but I tried it on a small, inconspicuous area first. It worked like a charm! I managed to get rid of all the scuffs without damaging the patent leather. Phew!
The Verdict
After a few weeks of wearing these patent leather Dunks, I’m pretty happy with them. They’re definitely a statement piece, and they add a bit of shine to my outfits. They’re also surprisingly comfortable, and the patent leather is holding up better than I expected.
- Pros: Look awesome, surprisingly comfy, relatively easy to clean.
- Cons: Can be tricky to find the right colorway, need to be a bit careful with scuffs.
Overall, I’d say they’re worth it if you’re into the patent leather look and you’re willing to put in a little extra effort to keep them clean. Just be prepared to do some searching, and maybe have a magic eraser handy!
