Alright, let me tell you what happened the other day. I was just scrolling, you know, doing my usual thing online. Then I remembered this person I used to know, heard they were doing some interesting stuff lately. So, I thought, okay, let’s see what they’re posting.
Fired up that app, the one everyone uses for pictures. Typed in their name, pretty sure I spelled it right. Found them almost immediately. Profile picture looked familiar, yeah, that was them.
But then, right there under the name and the little bio bit, it just said: This Account Is Private. Bam. Hit a wall right there. Couldn’t see a thing. No posts, no pictures, nothing. Just the name and the follower counts, basically.
Well, that was that.
Felt a bit strange, honestly. Like walking up to a window and finding the curtains drawn shut. You know they’re in there, but you can’t see anything. My first thought was, ‘Huh, okay’. Didn’t expect that, but hey, it’s their account, right?
So, there I was, looking at the screen. The only real option was that ‘Follow’ button. To click or not to click? That was the whole debate in my head for a solid minute.
- Do I press it?
- Will they even know who I am anymore?
- Is it weird to suddenly request to follow after all this time?
- What if they just ignore it?
I kinda weighed it up. Part of me was just curious, wanted to see the updates. Another part felt like it might be intruding, like knocking on their digital door uninvited. They obviously set it to private for a reason.
In the end, I just tapped back. Didn’t send the request. Figured if we were meant to reconnect, it would happen some other way, maybe. Or maybe not. It just felt… simpler not to push it. It’s their corner of the internet, they get to decide who gets in. Makes sense. Still leaves you wondering though, doesn’t it? What’s behind the curtain? But yeah, respected the sign. Moved on.
