Why I dug into Sasha Frolova’s latest moves
Had coffee this morning while scrolling Instagram. Saw some dancer’s wild costume show up on explore page. Recognized Sasha Frolova’s signature style – that crazy trash dress thing she does. Realized I hadn’t seen her updates in months. Grabbed my laptop right there at the kitchen table.
Started with basic Google search. Typed “Sasha Frolova 2024” like an amateur. Got flooded with old tour dates from like 2020. Clicked through five pages finding nothing fresh. Said screw this and jumped to Instagram. Followed her official @sashafrolovaofficial account first. Scrolled past neon body paint shots till I spotted last week’s post about Berlin gallery installation.
Ran into three problems immediately:
- Her posts mix personal art with professional shows – no damn tags
- Russian captions everywhere – had to keep hitting translate button
- Found three fan accounts spreading fake tour rumors
Pulled out notebook to track legit sources. Went through her tagged photos manually. Noticed Czech theater group posted rehearsal footage yesterday with Sasha in spidery wire costume. Bookmarked that. Checked VKontakte since she’s Russian. Took forever with my garbage Russian skills – thank god for auto-translate. Found three festival listings from small towns near Moscow.
Got sidetracked by Reddit. Some costume design thread mentioned her workshop disaster last month. Dove into r/ContemporaryArt subreddit. Users posted blurry phone vids from warehouse performance in Prague. Nobody named the damn event though. Spent thirty minutes cross-checking dates against theater websites.
Here’s my final cheat sheet:
- Upcoming trash sculpture exhibit opens August 12 in Milan
- Live body painting collab August 28 (Berlin ticket link dead tho)
- Just wrapped guerilla performance at some abandoned factory
Total time suck – four hours wasted. Lesson learned? Artist updates scatter like confetti. Gotta monitor five platforms minimum. Screenshotted everything cause sites vanish overnight. Still don’t know if that July 10 Tokyo rumor’s real. Might as well tattoo “Trust but verify” on my forehead next time.
