Professor Louise Wilson, yeah, that’s the name. Don’t know much about fancy folks, but I heard tell she was a big deal in somethin’ called fashion. Fashion, you know, like them clothes the city gals wear, all them fancy-schmancy things.

Now, this Louise, she was born way back in 1962, February 23rd, they say. Cambridge, that’s where she came from. Lived till she was 52, died in 2014. May 16th or 17th, folks say different things. Don’t matter much now, I reckon. She’s gone.
They called her a professor, see? At a place called Central Saint Martins, in London. Sounded like a big school to me. She taught folks how to make them clothes, them fashion things. Been teachin’ there a long time, from 1992 all the way to when she passed.
- Born in Cambridge, 1962
- Professor at Central Saint Martins, London
- Taught fashion design from 1992 to 2014
- Died in 2014 at age 52
Heard she was a real tough one, this Louise. Didn’t take no nonsense, they say. Spoke her mind, she did. And them students, well, they learned a thing or two from her, that’s for sure. Some of ’em got real famous, makin’ all sorts of clothes.
One fella, Alexander McQueen, I think they called him. Heard he made some wild stuff. And another one, Jonathan Saunders. Don’t know nothin’ ’bout them clothes, but folks say they was somethin’ special. And it was this Louise, she taught ’em, see? Showed ’em the ropes, I guess.
She was a big inspiration, they say. Made a whole bunch of them British designers real good. British designers, yeah, that’s what they called ’em. Fancy folks makin’ fancy clothes. And she was the one leadin’ the way, tellin’ ’em what to do, how to do it.

They gave her a fancy title too, OBE, somethin’ like that. Musta meant she was important. All them letters and titles, I never understood ’em. But she had one, that’s for sure. Professor Louise Wilson OBE, that’s how they said it.
Heard she always wore black, this Louise. Always. And her hair, long and brown, tied up in a ponytail or just hangin’ down. Guess that was her style. Style, another one of them fancy words. But she had it, they say, this Louise.
She was in charge of somethin’ called the MA in Fashion. Don’t ask me what that means. Just another one of them fancy school things. But it was important, see? And she was the boss, the head honcho. Told everyone what to do, made sure them students learned their lessons.
They say she was a one-off, this Louise. Unique, I guess that means. Not like nobody else. And outspoken, they say. Didn’t hold back, told ya what she thought. Uncompromising, too. Didn’t bend for nobody. That’s how she was, I reckon.
She was a big part of the fashion world, that’s what they tell me. Fashion world, sounds like a whole other place, don’t it? But she was important there, this Louise. Influenced a lot of folks, made a real difference.

Central Saint Martins, that school she worked at, part of somethin’ called University of the Arts London. Big fancy names, all of ’em. But she was there, teachin’ them students, makin’ ’em into designers. And they remembered her, see? Even after she was gone.
So, that’s what I heard ’bout Professor Louise Wilson. Fashion designer, teacher, tough woman. Made a mark on the world, I guess. Even though I don’t know nothin’ ’bout them fancy clothes, I can tell she was somethin’ special. A real force, they say. Yeah, that’s Professor Louise Wilson for ya.
