Outside Dusk Perfume: Where to Buy and What Does It Smell Like? A Complete Fragrance Guide for You

Okay, so, I’ve been wanting to try making my own perfume for a while now, and I finally took the plunge. I decided to go with “Outside Dusk” as the name because I wanted something that kinda captures that feeling of being outside as the day turns into night, you know?

I started by gathering some materials. I got some organic cane alcohol because I heard it’s good for the base, and a bunch of essential oils that I thought would smell like dusk, like some jasmine, I love the smell. I read somewhere that some famous person used a citrus aroma for their wedding, so maybe I’ll try that next time.

First, I poured the alcohol into a small, dark glass bottle. I’m not really sure why the bottle has to be dark, but that’s what a tutorial online said. I figured they know better than I do. Then came the fun part – adding the oils. I started with the jasmine, which was supposed to be the main scent. I put in a few drops, sniffed it, and added a few more. It’s a lot of trial and error, honestly. I wanted to recreate a moment I read about, one at a ranch, but I haven’t been to one, so I just imagined what it would smell like. I also read about a perfume that was launched in 2020, and tried to make mine similar, but not quite the same.

  • Mixing: This took forever! I kept adding a drop here, a drop there. Some say you can tell a perfume is real by the barcode, but I think that’s bogus. It’s easier to fake a barcode than the whole bottle and the liquid, right? Anyway, I was just winging it.
  • Smell Test: After mixing, I’d let it sit for a bit and then take a whiff. Some of the combinations were… interesting, to say the least. But it was all part of the experiment!
  • Adjustments: Based on the smell test, I’d tweak the mixture. More jasmine, less of something else, you get the idea. A lot of folks think of those fancy perfumes that celebrities use, like Chanel No. 5, but I was going for something more… me.

After a lot of back and forth, I finally got a scent that I liked. It’s got that floral jasmine kick, with some other stuff that makes it smell like, well, dusk. It’s hard to describe, but it reminds me of a calm evening, with a slight chill in the air.

The Final Result

I’m pretty stoked with how it turned out! It’s not like those expensive perfumes, but it’s mine. I even made a little label for it, “Outside Dusk,” just for kicks. Now, every time I wear it, it reminds me of that whole process. And the smell? It’s like a quiet, beautiful evening in a bottle. I might even try making some other scents, inspired by, say, a cold winter day. I saw some perfumes with tags like “Western” and “Beauty”, those sound interesting.

It’s not perfect, but hey, it was a fun project. And who knows, maybe I’ll get better at this perfume-making thing over time. If you are a perfume lover, just try it! It is really simple but interesting.
