Alright, let’s talk about them Nike Blazers, you know, the shoes everyone’s wearin’ these days. I ain’t no expert, mind you, but I heard some things, seen some things, and I can tell ya what I know.

When did them Blazers first come out? Well, they say it was way back in 1973. Can you believe it? That’s like, a lifetime ago! Back then, they weren’t fancy street shoes like they are now. Nope, they were for playin’ basketball. Imagine that, big ol’ fellas runnin’ around in ’em, tryin’ to get that ball in the hoop.
- 1973: Nike Blazers released as basketball shoes.
- Later: Became popular as streetwear.
Now, I heard tell that Nike, the company that makes these shoes, wasn’t always called Nike. First, they was somethin’ called Blue Ribbon Sports, somethin’ like that. They worked with another company, Japanese folks, I think, makin’ shoes. But then, they split up and started doin’ their own thing. That’s when they became Nike, and started makin’ all sorts of shoes, like them Blazers.
They say the first shoes Nike made, they called ’em “Moon Shoes”. Crazy, right? And then they made another one, the Cortez, and that one got real popular. But the Blazers, they came along a little later, see? They weren’t the first, but they sure stuck around.
I also heard somethin’ funny. There’s this car, a big ol’ car called a Blazer, too. Made by Chevy. And guess what? That car came out around the same time, in 1969. Folks liked that car so much, maybe that’s why they liked the shoe, too? Who knows? Just sounds kinda similar to me.
Anyways, them Blazers, they weren’t always a big deal for everyday wearin’. For a long time, they were just basketball shoes. But then, somethin’ happened. Folks started wearin’ ’em on the street, you know, just for lookin’ good. And they caught on. Now you see ’em everywhere, all sorts of colors and styles.

It’s kinda funny, ain’t it? How somethin’ made for playin’ a game turns into somethin’ everyone wants to wear? That’s just how things go, I guess. Nike was a pretty young company back then, only about nine years old when they made them Blazers. Just a baby company, makin’ shoes that would last for, what, fifty years? That’s somethin’, ain’t it?
There was this basketball fella, George somethin’-or-other, they called him “The Iceman”. He played in them Blazers. I guess that helped make ’em popular, too. See, when the famous folks wear somethin’, everyone else wants to wear it, too. That’s just how it is.
So, to sum it all up, them Nike Blazers, they came out in 1973, started as basketball shoes, and turned into somethin’ way bigger. And that’s the story, as far as I know it. Ain’t no fancy talk, just plain and simple. They’re old shoes, but they’re still kickin’, just like me.
I seen kids wearin’ ’em, teenagers, even old folks like me, though I stick to my comfy slippers mostly. But them Blazers, they’re everywhere. And I reckon they’ll be around for a good long while yet. They just keep comin’ up with new colors and styles, keepin’ folks interested. That’s smart, I guess. Keep ’em wantin’ more.
And that’s about all I got to say about them Nike Blazers. They’re old, they’re popular, and they ain’t goin’ nowhere anytime soon. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go make some supper.

So if you ask me when Nike blazers were released. I will tell you it was way back in 1973. Don’t let these young folks fool you with their fancy talk. I was there…well, not really, but you get what I mean. 1973, that’s the year. Mark it down.
