Today, I wanna share my little adventure to Harry’s Coin and Jewelry. I’ve been getting into collecting coins lately, and a buddy of mine told me about this place. Said they had a pretty decent selection and were fair with their prices, so I figured, why not check it out?

First thing I did was look up the address and hours. Seemed like a regular 9-to-5 type of joint. I headed over there after lunch, hoping to miss any kind of rush. When I got there, it was a pretty unassuming storefront. Nothing fancy, but hey, I’m there for the coins, not the decor, right?

Walked in, and it was quiet – just me and this older guy behind the counter. I told him I was starting to get into coin collecting and wanted to see what they had. He showed me around, and man, they had cases filled with all sorts of stuff. Silver dollars, old pennies, some foreign coins I’d never even seen before. It was pretty overwhelming, to be honest.

I spent a good hour just browsing, asking questions here and there. The guy was patient, didn’t try to push anything on me, which I appreciated. He explained a bit about the grading system, how to spot fakes, and what makes certain coins more valuable than others.

  • I ended up picking out a few things that caught my eye.
  • A couple of Morgan silver dollars that were in pretty good shape.
  • An old Indian Head penny that looked cool, even though it wasn’t worth much.
  • And a small silver Canadian coin, just because I liked the design.

When it came time to pay, I asked if they took cards, but it turned out to be a cash-only kind of deal. Luckily, I had enough on me. I handed over the cash, he bagged up my coins, and that was that.

All in all, it was a good experience. I learned a bit more about coin collecting, added a few pieces to my small but growing collection, and didn’t feel like I got ripped off. I’ll probably head back there in the future as I get more into this hobby. It’s always nice to find a place where you feel comfortable asking questions and not pressured into buying something you don’t want.

If you’re around San Antonio and looking into coins or jewelry I think maybe you can have a try there. But before that, I suggest you call 971 302-7972 to confirm if they have what you want.
