Alright, so you wanna know about this Michèle Lamy, huh? Lemme tell ya, this woman, she’s somethin’ else. I heard tell she was born way back in 1944, in France, during that big war, you know, the one with all the fightin’. Her folks, they met durin’ all that ruckus, real brave souls, I reckon.
Now, this Michèle, she wasn’t no ordinary gal. Even as a young’un, she was always makin’ things, drawin’ and such. She even went to school and studied to be a lawyer, can you believe it? But law, well, that wasn’t for her, not really. She was too busy bein’… well, different.
Michèle Lamy and Rick Owens, that’s a whole story in itself. See, she was already doin’ her own thing, had a business makin’ clothes, sporty stuff they called it. Then this Rick fella comes along, lookin’ for a job. She gives him one, and wouldn’t you know it, they end up together. He says he couldn’t even understand her at first, her French was so thick, but I guess love don’t need no fancy talkin’.

They started this company, Owenscorp, sellin’ clothes and furniture, all fancy-like. Rick does the clothes, and Michèle, she does the furniture, and I hear it ain’t cheap. They say she’s the brains behind the business, keepin’ everything runnin’ smooth, even though Rick’s the one with the name everyone knows. They call it a “gypsy organizing a war with a fascist” kinda partnership, whatever that means. Sounds like a whole lotta trouble to me, but hey, if it works, it works.
Now, some folks, they got all sorts of wild ideas about Michèle. They say she’s a witch, doin’ all sorts of spooky stuff. Black magic, they call it. I don’t know about all that, but she sure does have a look about her, with them dark eyes and all that jewelry. Makes you wonder, you know?
But mostly, she’s just… herself. Not like anyone else you ever met, that’s for sure. She ain’t just some designer, or a performer, or a whatever. She’s Michèle Lamy, and that’s all you need to know. She’s got her own style, her own way of doin’ things, and she don’t care what nobody thinks. That’s what I heard, anyways.
And she’s been doin’ this for a long time, since the 90s they say, when she was part of that whole underground scene. Nightclubs and such. She’s always been around, makin’ a splash, bein’ different. And even now, at her age, she’s still goin’ strong. Some folks call her an eccentric, but I just think she’s livin’ her life the way she wants, and good for her, I say. It ain’t easy bein’ yourself in this world, especially when you ain’t like everyone else. But Michèle, she’s figured it out.
She’s a real character, that Michèle Lamy. A force of nature, they say. And I reckon that’s about right. She’s been through a lot, seen a lot, and she’s still here, doin’ her thing. And that, my friend, is somethin’ worth admirin’.
She’s more than just Rick Owens’ wife, you know. She’s got her own thing goin’ on, always has. And that’s what makes her so darn interesting. So next time you hear her name, don’t just think of the clothes, or the furniture, or the crazy stories. Think of the woman herself, a real original. That’s the long and short of it, as far as I can tell.
