Alright, so today I wanna share my experience messing around with a Montblanc pen. I always wanted a nice pen, you know? Something classy.

First, I did some research. Just Googled “men’s Montblanc pens” and browsed around. There are a ton of models, and honestly, they all look pretty similar at first glance. I felt like I was drowning in options.
Then, I went to a store that sold them. Actually holding them made a huge difference. The weight, the feel of the pen in my hand…it’s something you can’t get from looking at pictures online. I tried out a few different models, scribbled some stuff on a piece of paper. I quickly realized the Meisterstück 149 was too big for my hand. It just felt awkward.
So I narrowed it down to the Classique and the LeGrand. The Classique felt better in terms of size, but the LeGrand had a slightly thicker barrel, which I surprisingly liked. Decisions, decisions!
After way too much agonizing, I went with the Meisterstück LeGrand. It just felt like the right balance of size and heft. I got it with a medium nib. The guy at the store filled it with ink and let me try it out again. Smooth as butter, man. Super smooth.
Next up was getting some ink. I went with Montblanc’s Mystery Black. Figured I’d stick with their own brand for the first go-round. Filling the pen was actually easier than I thought. Just unscrew the end, dip the nib in the ink, twist the piston thingy…bam! Full of ink. Wiped off the nib, and I was good to go.

I started writing with it. Just random thoughts, grocery lists, stuff like that. It’s definitely different from writing with a ballpoint. The ink flows so freely, you barely have to apply any pressure. My handwriting actually looks a little better, which is a plus.
Couple of things I learned along the way: Don’t overfill the pen! Ink can leak out, and that’s a mess you don’t want. Also, clean the pen regularly. Just run some water through it every few weeks to keep the ink flowing smoothly. I watched a Youtube video on how to clean it properly. Seriously, Youtube has everything.
Anyway, that’s my Montblanc experience so far. Is it worth the money? Honestly, it’s a bit ridiculous to spend that much on a pen. But…I really like it. It just feels good to use something that’s well-made and that I enjoy writing with. It’s a nice little treat, you know?
