Okay, so I’ve been obsessed with Marilyn Monroe lately, like, really obsessed. And I thought, “Why not try to recreate some of her iconic makeup looks?” I mean, who wouldn’t want to channel that classic Hollywood glamour, even just for a little bit?
Getting Started
First, I gathered all my makeup. I already had a bunch of stuff, but I realized I needed a few key items to really nail the Marilyn look. The most important thing I found through my research? That signature red lipstick. I also picked up some false eyelashes, because, let’s be real, Marilyn’s lashes were legendary. Also a good liquid eyeliner, you will see later on.
The Process
- I started with a clean, moisturized face. That’s always the first step, right?
- Then, I applied a light foundation. Marilyn’s skin always looked flawless, but not cakey, so I went for a natural finish.
- I spent some time on eyeshadow after foundation, light beiges and browns to give my eyes that subtle dimension.
- Next up, the eyeliner. This was the tricky part! I tried to create that classic winged liner that Marilyn was famous for. It took a few tries (okay, maybe more than a few), but I eventually got something I was happy with. Practice is important!
- After the liner, I applied the false eyelashes. This was another challenge! I’m not the best at putting on falsies, but I managed to get them on without gluing my eyes shut.
- Finally, the lipstick. I carefully lined my lips with a red lip liner and then filled them in with the bold red lipstick. And…wow. It really does make a difference!
The Result
Honestly, I was pretty impressed with myself! It wasn’t perfect, of course, but I definitely felt a little bit of that Marilyn magic. It’s amazing how makeup can transform you, not just physically, but also in how you feel. I took a bunch of selfies, naturally. I might even try this look again for a special occasion. Or maybe just a Tuesday. Because why not?
It was fun to be creative, and to step back to that ear for a while.
