Okay, here’s my blog post about my “coastal grandmother style” experiment:

So, I’ve been seeing this “coastal grandmother” thing all over the internet lately, and I gotta say, I was intrigued. It just looked so comfy and chic at the same time. I mean, who wouldn’t want to look like they just stepped out of a Nancy Meyers movie, right? I figured, why not give it a shot? It seemed easy enough.
Getting Started
First, I scoured my closet for anything that fit the vibe. I remembered reading somewhere that earthy tones are key, so I pulled out all my blues, greens, creams, and whites. I found a few linen pieces that I hadn’t worn in ages. And a couple of flowy dresses that I thought might work. This was already kind of fun.
Putting It Together
Next, I started playing around with different combinations. I paired a cream-colored linen shirt with some wide-leg blue pants. Then, I tried on a flowy white dress and added a light green cardigan on top. It definitely looked different than my usual style, but I liked it.
- Mixing and matching was key. I tried not to be too matchy-matchy.
- I noticed that the more relaxed the fit, the better it looked.
- Accessorizing was important, too. I didn’t have a straw hat, but I grabbed a canvas tote bag, and it worked.
The Test Run
Then came the real test – wearing these outfits out in public. I decided to start small. I wore one of my coastal grandma outfits to the farmers market. And you know what? I felt great. I got a few compliments, too, which was nice. I also wore a different outfit to a casual brunch with friends. They noticed the change in my style and asked if I was going for a new look. I just smiled and said I was trying something different.
My Thoughts
Honestly, I enjoyed this little experiment. It was fun to step outside of my comfort zone and try something new. The coastal grandmother style is definitely comfortable, and it’s surprisingly versatile. It is something that I think I will be doing it again. I might even invest in a few more pieces to really build out my coastal grandma wardrobe.

I learned that it’s not about following trends blindly, but about finding what works for you and making it your own. And most importantly, having fun with it. Who knows, maybe I’ll start a whole new trend myself!
