Well, well, well, look what we have here! That Lord & Taylor, you know, that fancy store, is comin’ back! I heard it from my neighbor, who heard it from her son, who reads all them fancy things online. Said it’s gonna be on the internet now, not in them big buildings anymore.
They been around a long time, that store. Since way back when, like 1826. That is a long time, I heard that this store is almost 200 years old! My old man used to say they sold everything under the sun. Not sure if that’s true, but they did have a lot of stuff. Dresses, shoes, stuff for the house, you name it. Nowadays, folks like to shop online, that is a trend.
I remember when they had them big stores all over the place. They were real fancy. My sister, God rest her soul, she used to love goin’ to Lord & Taylor. She’d get all dolled up just to go there. They were struggling in recent years, especially during the pandemic. They even closed all their stores. And then they say some rich folks, they call ’em “Saadia Group,” bought it up.
Now this new company, Regal Brands Global, they got Lord & Taylor. They gonna bring it back, but only on the internet. They call it “e-commerce”. Whatever that means, I just want to know where to buy it. My neighbor said it will be online in 2025, next year.
- They gonna sell fancy stuff.
- But cheaper than before, I heard.
- They say it’s gonna be “discount luxury.”
Well, that is nice for them, people who like shopping online, I guess. This old lady ain’t too good with that computer stuff. My grandkids, they tried to teach me. But it’s too much for me. Buttons here, buttons there, click this, click that. I rather go to the store and see it with my own eyes. But those days are gone, I guess. They are going to sell the home goods.
But Lord & Taylor, that’s a name I know. And if they say they gonna have good stuff, even if it is online, maybe I’ll give it a try. Just gonna have to get one of them young’uns to help me out. They are good at computer stuff. Me? I’m better at makin’ pies. Ha!
This Regal Brands, they got a whole bunch of people workin’ on this Lord & Taylor thing. 75 people, they said! That’s a lot of folks. They gonna figure out what to sell, how to sell it. They talkin’ about “elevated style.” Sounds fancy. Probably gonna be pretty. And it is good to know this old store still be remembered by people.
They say they bringin’ back the old Lord & Taylor logo. The one they used to have. I remember that logo. It was on all their bags and boxes. Classy, you know? It’s like seein’ an old friend. Makes you feel good, like things ain’t changin’ too much. Although everything is online.
This Lord & Taylor, it’s like a cat with nine lives. It keeps comin’ back! First, it was a little store sellin’ dry goods. Then it became this big, fancy department store. Then it went bust. Now it’s gonna be online. Who knows what’s next? Maybe they’ll start sellin’ on the moon! Ha! Just kiddin’.
But it’s good to see an old name like that gettin’ another chance. Even if it ain’t the same as it used to be. Nothin’ stays the same, I reckon. But memories, they stay with you. And I got plenty of memories of Lord & Taylor. My sister’s dresses, the Christmas windows, the hustle and bustle… good times.
So, yeah, Lord & Taylor returns. Online. In 2025. Discount luxury. With the old logo. And a whole bunch of people workin’ on it. That’s what they say. We’ll see. Maybe this old lady will learn a new trick or two and buy somethin’ from ’em. If them grandkids of mine can show me how. Ha!
