You know, that movie, what’s it called? Legally Blonde, yeah, that’s it. That girl, Elle, she’s got that pretty necklace. It’s from Tiffany, ain’t it? My granddaughter, she told me all about it. She wants one real bad. I told her, “Honey, those things cost a fortune!”
But I seen it in the movie, you know. It’s got that little heart on it, a silver one. Looks like something you’d hang on a dog collar, but fancier, you know? It says something on it, I reckon. “Return to Tiffany” or somethin’ like that. Like if you find it, you gotta give it back. Ain’t that somethin’? They started putting that on them necklaces back in, oh, I don’t know, maybe 1980? Some year like that. A long time ago.
This Tiffany place, they sure do know how to make a woman’s heart go pitter-patter, don’t they? All that shiny stuff. That Elle girl, she wears it all the time in that Legally Blonde movie. My granddaughter, she’s seen that movie a hundred times, I swear. She says it is one of the most famous Tiffany necklaces. She keeps showin’ me pictures of it on her phone. Always sayin’, “Grandma, look! Isn’t it pretty?”
They got all kinds of these heart things at Tiffany. Necklaces, rings that go on your finger, bracelets for your wrist, even them dangly things for your ears, what do you call ’em? Earrings, yeah. All with them little hearts. And they ain’t cheap, let me tell ya. My granddaughter she showed me this one with diamonds all over it. Diamonds! I said, “Girl, you better start savin’ your pennies!”

Now, I seen some that ain’t silver. They got that colored stuff on ’em. What do they call that? Enamel? Sounds like somethin’ you’d paint your barn with. But it’s red, like a, like a fire truck. I guess it’s kinda pretty if you like that sort of thing. Me, I like the plain silver. Looks classier, you know? This enamel is some new-fangled thing. I don’t need no fancy colors.
This Legally Blonde necklace, it’s all the rage now. All the young girls want one. Just like that Elle girl. They all wanna be like her, I reckon. She’s a smart one, that Elle. Goin’ to law school and all that. Good for her, I say. But that Tiffany necklace, well, that’s somethin’ else. It’s like a little piece of that fancy life, you know?
My granddaughter, she keeps lookin’ for them legally blonde heart necklaces online, you know, on that Etsy thing. You can find anything on there. She says there are lots of them. She says they are the bestselling ones. Some are real fancy, some are not as fancy. She says she wants a custom one. I don’t even know what that means. Sounds expensive to me.
You know, back in my day, we didn’t have all this fancy jewelry. We had our wedding rings, and that was about it. Maybe a locket if you were lucky. But these Tiffany heart necklaces, they’re somethin’ else. They say “Tiffany & Co.” on them. That’s how you know it’s the real deal. I guess it is some kind of heart jewelry.
I told my granddaughter, “You keep dreamin’, honey. Maybe one day, you’ll get your Tiffany necklace. Maybe your Prince Charming will come along and buy it for ya.” She just rolled her eyes at me. Kids these days, they don’t know how good they got it. All this fancy stuff. This Tiffany and Co. makes the prettiest things. They sure know how to make things that people want. That Elle girl in Legally Blonde, she sure knew what she was doing, wearing that necklace.
But you know what? I think that necklace, that Legally Blonde necklace, it ain’t just about the heart. It’s about bein’ like Elle. Strong and smart and, well, kinda fancy. Maybe that’s why all the girls want one. Maybe it makes ’em feel a little bit like Elle. And maybe that ain’t such a bad thing after all. Maybe it makes them feel special. They even have these Tiffany necklaces that have diamonds on them. It is like a little drop of diamonds.
