Okay, so, like many of you, I’ve been seeing the whole “Chucks and Pearls” thing making the rounds, especially with Kamala Harris being so prominent now. It’s been kinda inspiring, you know? So, I thought, why not try to put my own spin on it? I mean, who doesn’t love a good pair of Chucks?

First thing’s first, I had to get the shoes. I already own like five pairs of Converse, not even gonna lie. But, I didn’t have any that really screamed “Kamala” to me. I wanted something with a little pop, something that would stand out. I spent a good few hours browsing online, looking at all the different colors and patterns. There are so many choices! It’s almost overwhelming. I finally found a pair that I thought would be perfect – they’re this bright, kind of graphic design, and they definitely make a statement.
Getting the shoes was the easy part.
- Next, I wanted to figure out how to incorporate the “pearls” aspect of the trend.
- Now, I’m not really a pearls kind of girl, but I wanted to pay homage to the idea.
- I remembered seeing somewhere that it’s about comfort and style, right?
My DIY Project
So, I hit up a local craft store and spent way too long wandering the aisles. I ended up grabbing a bunch of different beads and some stretchy cord, thinking I could maybe make a necklace or a bracelet. I’m not the craftiest person, but I figured I could at least string some beads together. My first attempt at making a necklace was… well, let’s just say it wasn’t exactly “elegant”.
The Result
The shoes are super comfy, as expected. They’re the low-top kind, the Shoreline Slip-ons, which are my favorite. I’ve been wearing them around the house, just to break them in, and they feel great. They’ve got those memory foam insoles, which is a nice touch.
I ended up scrapping the whole necklace idea and made a simple bracelet instead. It’s not perfect, but I like it. And it’s got a little bit of that blue color that’s supposed to represent the Democratic party, so that’s a plus. So yeah, that’s my “Chucks and Pearls” story. It was a fun little project, and it got me thinking about how we can all express ourselves through fashion, even in small ways.

It’s pretty cool how these shoes have become such a symbol, huh? And it’s not just Kamala, I’ve seen so many celebrities rocking Chucks – Lady Gaga, Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner, you name it. They’re like, over a hundred years old, but they’re still so popular. Shows you how some things just never go out of style. I also learned a little bit about Converse. I mean, like everyone, I knew they used to be basketball shoes, but I didn’t realize they weren’t used professionally anymore. And apparently, they aren’t the best for super intense workouts. But for everyday wear, they’re awesome. I guess that’s why I like them so much. For sure, they are perfect for casual wear!
