So today I decided to dig into Janet Jackson’s fashion history after spotting some old pics online. Grabbed my sketchpad and coffee, ready to dissect those iconic looks everyone talks about. Started scribbling notes like a madwoman.
The whole ugly journey begins
First up was that infamous 2004 Super Bowl nipple shield situation. Figured “hey, symmetry is key” so I tried replicating it using safety pins and my cousin’s football jersey. Damn thing kept sliding sideways when I walked – spent 20 minutes just duct-taping it to my bra. Looked like a toddler’s craft project.

The painful truth dawned
Turns out my mom kept all my childhood photos. Found 2003 prom shot wearing homemade Janet-inspired vest. Thought I looked fly back then – reality was pink pleather shedding glitter everywhere like diseased disco ball. Should’ve taken that L years ago.
Anyway after that cringefest, main lessons smacked me:
