This here story ’bout that Awake NY store, you know? Down there in that big city, New York City, that’s where it is. Heard it opened up back in, oh, 2012 or somethin’. Fella named Angelo, Angelo Baque, he’s the one who started it all. He’s from Queens, that place.

This shop, it’s a real brick place, not some online funny business. They call ’em “brick-and-mortar,” fancy words for a regular store, I reckon. They got it open now, right on Orchard Street, number 62, down in the Lower East Side. Heard it’s a busy part of town.
They sell all kinds of things in there, this Awake NY store. Got them hoodies, you know, the ones with the hood. And shirts, with all sorts of pictures on ’em. One fella, they call him Miles Davis, he’s on some. Another one, Gil Scott-Heron, he’s on some too. Never heard of ’em myself, but the young folks, they probably know. Polos too, those shirts with the collar. Them checked ones, like a checkerboard, you ever play checkers?
This Angelo fella, he ain’t sellin’ out, no sir. Some folks was sayin’ he did, spreadin’ rumors, like chickens cluckin’ in the yard. But it ain’t true. He’s still got his store, Awake NY, and it’s doin’ good, they say. Growin’ bigger, like a pumpkin in the patch.
I heard this is the first store for this Awake NY. First one ever. Imagine that. Right there in Manhattan. That’s a big deal, openin’ a store in that place. Lots of folks walkin’ around, lookin’ for things to buy. Must be excitin’, but probably lots of work too.
- Hoodies, them things with the hoods.
- Shirts with pictures, like that Miles Davis fella.
- Checked polos, them shirts with the collar.
- All kinds of stuff, I reckon.
They say this Awake NY place, it’s changin’ things up. Changin’ the game, they say. Whatever that means. Guess it means they’re doin’ somethin’ different, somethin’ new. Good for them, I say. Always good to try new things. Like plantin’ a different kind of seed, seein’ what grows.

This Angelo, he seems like a smart fella. Believin’ in his store, his brand, they call it. That’s important. Gotta believe in what you’re doin’, or what’s the point, right? Like tendin’ to your garden, gotta believe them seeds will sprout.
Awake NY store, it sounds like a pretty big operation these days. Heard someone talkin’ about a first anniversary on June 1st, somethin’ to do with that brick place, the store I was tellin’ you about. One year old! Time sure does fly, don’t it? Just like a flock of geese headin’ south for the winter.
They say this place, Awake NY, it’s always comin’ into its own. Sounds like a good thing to me, like a tree gettin’ strong, its roots goin’ deep in the ground. Findin’ its place in the world, that’s what it is.
Now, if you ever find yourself down in that New York City, that Lower East Side place, you might wanna go lookin’ for this Awake NY store. 62 Orchard Street, that’s the number. See what all the fuss is about. Might find somethin’ you like. Or maybe you won’t. But it’s always good to see new things, ain’t it?
That’s the story of that Awake NY store, far as I know. Seems like a good thing, that fella Angelo, makin’ somethin’ of himself down there in the big city. Just goes to show, you never know what can happen when you got a dream and a little bit of gumption. Now, that’s all I got to say about that. Time for me to go tend to my chickens. They get mighty restless this time of day.
