Okay, so, I’ve been wanting to switch up my hair color for a while now, and I finally decided to go for it. I went with this color that’s being called “mousy blonde” – it’s like, not too flashy, but still really pretty. It’s a mix of blonde and brown, and I thought it would be a nice change from my usual color. I wanted to go with something that’s a bit more low-maintenance. You know, something that doesn’t require a ton of upkeep. This seemed perfect because it blends so well with my natural color, so I figured it would grow out nicely without looking too crazy.

First, I looked up a bunch of pictures online to get a better idea of what I wanted. I found some photos of people with similar skin tones and eye colors as me, just to see how it would look. I was actually surprised by how many variations of “mousy blonde” there are. Some are lighter, some are darker, some have more ashy tones, and others are a bit warmer. But all of them are really gentle colors. After a lot of back and forth, I decided on a shade that’s kind of in the middle – not too light, not too dark. It’s got a mix of highlights and lowlights to give it some dimension, which I really liked.

Then came the actual coloring process. I’m not gonna lie, I was a bit nervous. I’ve had some bad experiences with hair dye in the past, so I was really hoping this wouldn’t be another one of those. And I really wanted to go for it, since it would take a lot of time to get the color I wanted. I started by bleaching my hair to get it light enough for the mousy blonde color to show up. This part took the longest – I think I sat with bleach in my hair for like, an hour? It was a bit uncomfortable, but I just kept thinking about how good it would look in the end.

After the bleach, my hair was this really light, almost white color. That was a bit of a shock, but I knew it was just a temporary step. Next, the stylist mixed up the mousy blonde dye and applied it to my hair. This part was much quicker than the bleaching. Once the dye was in, I just had to wait for it to process. I think I waited for about 30 minutes, just flipping through magazines and trying not to think about how my hair was going to turn out. It wasn’t hard for me to choose a shade since I knew what I wanted from the start.

Finally, it was time to rinse out the dye. I was so excited to see the final result! The stylist washed and conditioned my hair, and then started blow-drying it. As my hair got drier, I could start to see the color more clearly. And you know what? I loved it! It was exactly what I had envisioned – this soft, natural-looking blonde with a hint of brown. It looked really healthy and shiny, too.

The stylist added some layers to give my hair more movement, and then styled it with some loose waves. I couldn’t stop looking at myself in the mirror. I was so happy with how it turned out. It’s been a few weeks now, and I’m still loving my new hair color. It’s so easy to manage, and it looks great even when I just let it air dry. Plus, I’ve gotten so many compliments on it! People keep telling me how natural and effortless it looks. It’s also a really versatile shade of blonde, it can match all kinds of styles easily. So, yeah, I’m really glad I decided to try out the mousy blonde trend. It’s definitely a color I’ll be sticking with for a while.

What I learned from this experience:

  • Mousy blonde is super versatile. It works with different skin tones and styles.
  • It’s low-maintenance. Growing it out looks natural, which is a huge plus.
  • Dimension is key. Highlights and lowlights make a big difference in the final look.

So, if you’re thinking about changing up your hair color, I’d definitely recommend giving mousy blonde a try. It’s a beautiful, natural-looking shade that’s easy to maintain. Just make sure you do your research and find a stylist who knows what they’re doing. Trust me, it’s worth it!
