Is a Pink Ralph Lauren Polo Worth It? (A Review of Quality and Price)

Okay, so, I wanted to try out this whole “dyeing clothes” thing. I had this old, white Ralph Lauren polo that, honestly, I never wore. It was just kinda sitting there in my closet, taking up space. I figured, why not experiment? I’d seen some cool stuff online about people dyeing their clothes, and I thought, “I can do that!”

First things first, I went and bought some pink dye. I didn’t really know what I was doing, so I just grabbed a box that looked like a nice shade of pink. Then, I cleared out my schedule for an afternoon. This was gonna be my big project.

I read the instructions on the dye box, like, three times. Seemed easy enough. Filled a big bucket with hot water, poured in the dye, and stirred it around until it was all dissolved. It looked like some sort of weird, pink potion. Then, the moment of truth: I dunked the polo shirt into the bucket.

Once the timer went off, I pulled the shirt out. It was, well, pink! But it was also kind of splotchy in places. Not exactly the look I was going for. I rinsed it out in cold water until the water ran clear, just like the instructions said.

Then, I tossed it in the washing machine with some old towels (didn’t want to risk staining anything else) and ran a cold wash cycle. When it was done, I hung it up to dry, crossing my fingers that the splotchiness would fade a bit.

The Result

It didn’t completely fade, but it was definitely better! The color was a pretty, light pink, and the splotchiness, while still there, was less noticeable. It kind of gave it a unique, “worn-in” look, I guess you could say. I actually ended up liking it more than I thought I would. So yeah, my pink Ralph Lauren polo experiment was a success, sort of!
