Okay, let me tell you about this whole “new balance purple orange” thing I went through. It wasn’t exactly planned, more like stumbled into it.
Getting the Idea
So, I was just minding my own business, scrolling through some stuff online, you know, the usual time-wasting. Then bam, saw this picture. It was a pair of New Balance kicks, but the colors, man, purple and orange. It just stuck in my head. Wasn’t even looking for shoes, but suddenly, I kinda wanted those specific ones. Weird how that happens.
Didn’t even know the model number or anything. Just had that color combo burned into my brain. Purple and orange. Seemed kinda loud, but also kinda cool. Different, you know?
The Hunt Begins
Figured it’d be easy. Just search “new balance purple orange”. Hah. That was mistake number one. Loads of results popped up, different models, different shades. Some were mostly purple with a tiny bit of orange, others the opposite. None looked exactly like the picture I vaguely remembered.
I spent a good few evenings just digging around. Checked the official site, then reseller spots, even those weird foreign store sites. It became a bit of an obsession, finding that exact pair.
Here’s what I did:
- Scrolled endlessly through image search results.
- Tried guessing model numbers (like 574, 990, whatever).
- Asked a buddy who’s into sneakers, he wasn’t much help.
- Almost gave up like twice.
Finally, I found something close. It was a specific model, maybe a limited release or something, I dunno. Looked right, though. The purple was deep, the orange was bright, just like I imagined.
Making the Move
Found a seller, seemed legit. Price wasn’t crazy cheap, but not insane either. I hesitated for a bit. Do I really need purple and orange shoes? I’m not exactly a teenager anymore. But then I thought, screw it. Why not? It’s just a bit of fun.
So, I pulled the trigger. Clicked buy. Felt kinda silly afterwards, spending time and money on shoes I didn’t plan on getting. But also kinda excited.
The Arrival and First Look
Package arrived a few days later. Standard brown box, nothing fancy. I opened it up. There they were. The purple was really nice, not too flashy. And the orange bits just popped against it. They looked… good. Better than I expected, actually.
Tried them on straight away. Fit was standard New Balance, comfy like always. Walked around the house a bit. Felt good on the feet. Looked down, saw the colors. Still felt a bit loud for me, but hey, I bought ’em.
Wearing Them Out
First time I wore them out was just for a quick trip to the store. Felt a bit self-conscious, honestly. Like everyone was staring at my feet. Probably wasn’t true, just me overthinking it. But they felt comfortable, and that’s the main thing, right?
Got one comment from the cashier kid. “Cool shoes”. That was it. Made me feel a bit better, less like an old guy trying too hard.
So yeah, that’s the story. Started as a random picture, became a bit of a hunt, ended with me owning some rather bright sneakers. Still wear them now and then when I feel like it. They’re comfortable, and they remind me of the whole silly process of finding them. Just a pair of shoes, but it was my little adventure, I guess.
