Okay, so, I’ve been seeing jorts everywhere lately, right? And I was like, “I gotta get in on this.” But the big question: how do you even style these things? They’re not quite shorts, not quite jeans… they’re jorts! I did some digging and experimenting, and here’s the lowdown on my jorts journey.

First things first, I needed to actually get a pair. I went to a couple of thrift stores, which was fun. You never know what you are going to find! Found a pair of oversized Levi’s that seemed perfect for chopping. I mean, that’s the classic jorts starting point, isn’t it?

Then came the scary part – the cutting. I grabbed my fabric scissors, took a deep breath, and started snipping. I aimed for a length that was a bit longer than regular shorts, but definitely above the knee. I was nervous, but actually it was not very hard at all.

Pro tip: I found that cutting them a little longer than you think you want is a good idea. You can always go shorter, but you can’t add fabric back on!

After the initial chop, I threw them in the wash to get that frayed, worn-in look around the edges. I think it worked well!

My Styling Experiments

  • Outfit 1: The Casual Classic

    I paired the jorts with a simple white t-shirt and some sneakers. Tucked the t-shirt in a little in the front to give it some shape. This was a super easy, comfy outfit that I wore to run errands.

  • Outfit 2: Dressed Up a Bit

    Okay, so I wanted to see if I could make jorts look a little less casual. I tried them with a flowy, off-the-shoulder top and some wedges. It actually looked pretty cute! I added a belt to cinch in the waist and some simple jewelry. This would be perfect for a casual lunch or something.

  • Outfit 3: Layered Look

    Since it’s not quite summer here yet, I played around with layering. I wore the jorts with a tank top, an oversized button-down shirt left open, and some boots. This was probably my favorite look. It felt very “me” and was comfortable but still stylish. It was pretty easy to put together too. I tried a few different combinations of shirts before I liked how it looked.

Honestly, styling jorts was way easier than I thought it would be! They’re surprisingly versatile. The key is to just experiment and see what works for you and your style. Don’t be afraid to try different tops, shoes, and accessories.
