Okay, so I’ve been wanting to get my hands on a pair of Aunt Pearl KD 3s for a while. The story behind them, honoring Kevin Durant’s late aunt, it just really resonates. Plus, they’re a super clean-looking shoe. So, I finally decided to go for it. Here’s how it went down:
The Hunt Begins
First things first, I started scouring the usual spots online. I checked a few resale sites, you know, the big ones that everyone talks about. I was seeing some crazy prices, though! It’s an older shoe, so finding a brand-new pair in my size was proving tough.
I spent a good few hours just browsing, comparing prices, and trying to figure out which sellers were legit. It’s a minefield out there!
Digging Deeper
After getting a bit frustrated with the resale market, I decided to try some other avenues. I hit up some sneaker forums and online communities. Figured there might be some collectors out there willing to part with a pair, maybe for a more reasonable price.
- I posted in a couple of “Want to Buy” threads.
- I searched through old sales posts to see if anyone had listed a pair recently.
- I even reached out to a few people directly who seemed like they might have connections.
The Breakthrough
Finally, after a few days of searching, I got a message from someone on one of the forums. They had a pair in my size, in pretty good condition, and were willing to sell for a price I could actually stomach! We chatted back and forth for a bit, I asked for some extra pictures, and everything looked good.
Sealing the Deal
I decided to pull the trigger! We agreed on a price, I sent the payment, and then the waiting game began. Thankfully, the seller was super responsive and shipped the shoes out quickly. I tracked the package like a hawk, watching it make its way across the country.

Unboxing Glory
Finally, the day arrived! The package was at my doorstep. I grabbed it, ripped it open (carefully, of course!), and there they were – the Aunt Pearl KD 3s. They looked even better in person than in the pictures. I laced them up immediately and wore them around the house, just admiring them.
All that searching, negotiating, and waiting… it was totally worth it. I finally got my hands on a grail, and I couldn’t be happier. It’s a great feeling when you finally get to own something you’ve been wanting for so long.
