How painful is a second lobe piercing usually? What you really need to know beforehand.

Okay, so I decided it was time. I kept seeing people with those cute little double lobe piercings and thought, why not me? Been thinking about it for ages, honestly. Finally just decided to actually do it.

How painful is a second lobe piercing usually? What you really need to know beforehand.

Getting Ready

Didn’t do a ton of research, if I’m being honest. I know a place nearby that seemed decent enough, looked clean whenever I walked past. Figured for a simple lobe piercing, it wasn’t like getting something super complicated done. Just woke up one Saturday and felt like today was the day. Grabbed my wallet, made sure my hair was out of the way, and just headed out the door. I already had an idea of the simple stud I wanted – nothing too flashy to start with, just a little silver ball.

At the Studio

Walked in, place was pretty quiet which was nice. Smelled clean, like disinfectant, which is always a good sign, right? The person at the counter was friendly. I told them I wanted a second lobe piercing on both sides. They had me fill out a quick form, just the usual stuff. Then the piercer came out, took me to a back room. Looked very professional, everything was packaged and sterile. Showed me the little studs they had, and I picked the simple ones I’d planned on. Felt good about it.

The Actual Piercing

Okay, here’s the part. Sat down in the chair. They put on gloves, cleaned my earlobes really well with an alcohol wipe. That part felt cold. Then they took this little purple marker and made dots where the second holes would go. Asked me to look in the mirror to make sure I liked the placement. I squinted, tilted my head, yeah, looked about right. Even and not too close to the first hole. I gave the thumbs up.

They used a needle, not a gun, which I heard is better. Clamped my earlobe, told me to take a deep breath in, and exhale. Did that, and POP. Honestly, it was super quick. A sharp pinch, maybe like a bee sting? Then a warm feeling. Didn’t hurt nearly as much as I thought it might. They put the jewelry in right away. Repeated on the other side. Same deal: deep breath, quick pinch, done. Took maybe 10 minutes total for both ears.

Taking Care of It

Afterwards, they cleaned them up again and gave me the rundown on aftercare. Pretty basic stuff:

  • Get some saline spray. Spray it on the front and back, twice a day.
  • Don’t touch them! Seriously, keep hands off unless cleaning.
  • No twisting the jewelry. Just leave it alone to heal.
  • Be careful sleeping. Try not to sleep directly on them, which is easier said than done. I got one of those neck pillows, helps a bit.
  • Keep hairspray and stuff away from them.

So that’s what I’ve been doing. It’s been a few days now. They were a little bit sore the first day, especially when I accidentally bumped them, but mostly okay. Feels kinda cool having them there. Definitely glad I finally went and did it. Simple change, but I like how it looks. Just gotta be patient with the healing now.
