My Attempt with the Yeezy Slate Gray

Alright, so I decided I wanted to try for those Yeezy Slate Grays. Heard about them, saw some pictures, thought, “Okay, these look pretty decent, maybe I’ll give it a shot.” Wasn’t completely sold, but you know how it is, sometimes you just get curious about the hype.

First thing I did was check the usual spots. Pulled up the Adidas Confirmed app, made sure my info was all up to date. Payment, address, shoe size – the whole drill. You gotta be ready, right? No messing around when the clock’s ticking.

Then I started looking around. Checked a few other sneaker sites, the ones that usually do raffles. Made a little list in my head:

  • Confirmed App (obviously)
  • Maybe Foot Locker? Sometimes they get them.
  • A couple of those boutique stores online.

Entered every raffle I could find. It’s like buying lottery tickets, mostly. You click the buttons, fill out the forms, and then you just kinda forget about it until you get the email telling you you lost. That’s usually how it goes down for me, anyway.

The day of the main draw on Confirmed came. I set an alarm, just in case. Opened the app a few minutes before. Watched the little timer count down. It’s kinda dumb, the anticipation for a pair of shoes, but whatever, I was already in it.

The draw started. You get that little spinning wheel thing. Waited. Checked my email. Checked the app again. Nothing. Waited some more. Still nothing. After about 30 minutes, I figured it was probably an L. The usual “You weren’t selected” notification eventually popped up. No big surprise there.

Checked the other raffles over the next day or two. Same story. Loss after loss. It’s funny, you put in all this effort, coordinate across different apps and websites, all for a chance to buy something. The whole process feels kinda broken sometimes.

So, yeah. That was my practical run at the Slate Grays. Put in the effort, went through the motions, followed the steps. Didn’t get ’em. Honestly, part of me was kinda relieved. Saves me the money, and I didn’t need them anyway. Just another day trying to navigate the sneaker game, I guess. Moved on pretty quick. There’s always another drop next week, right?
