Holiday Outfit Inspo: Cute and Easy Ideas for Any Party!

Okay, so I’ve been seeing “holiday outfit inspo” all over my feed, and I figured, why not jump in and actually do something about it? I mean, my closet is bursting, but I always feel like I have “nothing to wear.” So, I decided to document my little experiment.

Holiday Outfit Inspo: Cute and Easy Ideas for Any Party!

Digging Through the Depths

First, I pulled everything – and I mean everything – out of my closet. Dresses, skirts, pants, tops, even that sequined jacket I bought on a whim and have only worn once. It was a mountain of fabric on my bed, totally overwhelming.

Next, I started sorting. Like, super basic sorting. “Definitely No” pile, “Maybe” pile, and “Potentially Festive” pile. The “Definitely No” pile was mostly summer stuff and things that just didn’t fit the holiday vibe (or, you know, me anymore).

The “Maybe” Pile – Where the Magic (Maybe) Happens

The “Maybe” pile was the biggest, of course. It was full of things I liked, but wasn’t sure how to style. I spent a good hour just trying on random combinations. Some were disasters (that floral skirt with the striped top? Nope!). Others were surprisingly okay.

  • I paired a velvet skirt (that I almost forgot I owned) with a simple cream-colored sweater. It looked…actually pretty good!
  • I tried a red dress that I usually think is “too much” with a black blazer and some ankle boots. It felt festive but not over-the-top.
  • Then tried a plain dark dress, and I added a piece of statement neaklace and high heels.

The “Potentially Festive” Pile – Bring on the Sparkle

This pile was smaller, mostly things with sequins, velvet, or bold colors. I already had a few ideas floating around, so I focused on refining them.

I decided to keep things simple. I am not the fasion icon, better keep things simple.

I didn’t buy anything new, which was a major win! I just used what I already had and tried to be a little more creative with my combinations.

The Final Verdict

Honestly, it was a bit of a mess, and it took way longer than I expected. But, I actually ended up with a few solid outfit options for upcoming holiday gatherings. Plus, I rediscovered some clothes I’d totally forgotten about, which is always a bonus.

And I made my holiday outfit inspo!
