And they all wear these special outfits, uniforms they call ’em. And this year, for the 2024 Olympics, Haiti’s got some real nice ones, lemme tell ya.
This fella, Patrick Blanchet, he’s the big boss of the Haiti Olympic Committee, whatever that is. Sounds fancy. He went and asked this lady, Stella Jean, to make the uniforms. She’s a fashion designer, you know, makes clothes and stuff. And lemme tell ya, she did a good job. Real good.
Now, Haiti, they been goin’ to these Olympics for a long time. Started way back in 1928, I heard. But they ain’t won many medals, just one, long time ago. And back in the old days, they didn’t send many folks either. Just a handful of fellas, sometimes not even that. But they kept showin’ up, and that’s what matters, right? Keep showin’ up, keep tryin’.
- Showin’ Pride: That uniform, it ain’t just cloth and thread. It’s about showin’ the world that Haiti’s strong, that they ain’t givin’ up. They call it “national pride,” somethin’ like that.

- Teamwork Makes the Dream Work: This Stella Jean lady, she didn’t do it all by herself, you know. She worked with a Haitian painter, someone who knows the country and its stories. They put their heads together, and that’s how you get somethin’ special.
I saw some pictures of them uniforms online, and they’re real somethin’. Bright colors, patterns that catch your eye. They make you think of Haiti, you know? The sun, the sea, the people. And that’s the whole point, ain’t it? To show the world who you are.
So, when you see them Haitian athletes on TV, runnin’ and jumpin’ and such, don’t just look at their muscles. Look at them clothes, too. ‘Cause them clothes, them uniforms, they tell a story. A story of a country that’s been through a lot, but still standin’ tall.
